The food was great and the portions were huge - very good value for money! We had 2 different types of rabbit pasta and both were good. Meat served on the bone so a bit fiddly to eat, but worth it. They also gave a little platter of meats/cheese/bread/sauce on the house which was absolutely delicious.
Bit of confusion when it came to paying though - they originally missed some drinks off and undercharged us, so we got them to correct it, then when we paid and they brought us our change they'd given us way too much back! We just left the correct amount for them so they probably thought it was a massive tip...they might want to check their billing for better organisation!

This place was bustling with activity on a Sunday evening. The ambiance was fine, we were seated on the road (perhaps due to social distancing they had to include tables also on the road). Service was quite slow, for which the head waitress apologised as they were very busy and some waiters were beginners.
Other than this, we were pleasantly surprised. A complimentary board with mushroom rice, local tomato paste, beans and a basket of hot crispy Maltese bread was given. This was divine and we devoured it heartily. Then came the ribs. A huge rack of juicy tender ribs which were super easy to eat with a knife and fork as they fell right off the bone. The meat was full of flavour and BBQ sauce was excellent. Fries were very nice also. The bill for two drinks and 2 racks of ribs came to only 28 euro - what a bargain!
Great food, friendly waiters and unbeatable prices. Will be back!!!!

This restaurant serves great food, with very generous portions and at the right price. The rabbit is of course very good, so is the steak, and the pizzas, also the wine is very reasonable, and the serving staff is very nice and helpful. Would cross over to Gozo any evening, just to eat there.

If you're after the traditional Maltese rabbit stew The Fat Rabbit - Nadur is not just a safe bet but, in my honest opinion, best option across the islands.
Portions: whatever the choice, you are surely set to be treated to a sizable portion. I had the rabbit stew, while the wife opted for the fat rabbit pasta. The photos possibly might not do justice to the actual sizes, but I suggest caution more so if you're optiong for the former. Such plates come accompanied by fries/boiled potatoes and a salad/vegetables. The platters are equally massive.
Price: I challenge you to find a place where such dishes retail for around €11 - €13.
Quality: Upon being seated, you will be treated to a delicious and warm ftira/flat bread that immediately sets the setting for the remainder of the course/s. The rabbit was cooked devinely. Albeit fried, yet dishes aren't overly greasy.
Atmosphere: situated in a quiet piazzetta/open space, I genuinely recommend getting a table outside. It definitely complements the setting. Covid protocols are definitely followed, with ample distance allocated between tables.
Waiting time: short, you won't need to wait too long before you are served.
My only complaint revolves around the desert. We opted for the apple crumble. This was definitely prepared way beforehand and warmed in a microwave. Unfortunately the usual crust texture was nowhere to be found.
Definitely recommend. I suggest you book in advance since securing a place, even during the week, is not easy.

I've been to this restaurant before and every time I came it was good but this visit however was a disaster, we were 4 people and 2 of us ordered there special Surf&Turf but when it arrived the lobster had no meat in it. They were gonna charge 30 euros each for the specials when we complained and asked to speak to the manager he refused. The only good thing about this place is the location. I will never come back and I don't recommend this place to anyone.

My wife and I had dinner at the Fat Rabbit one evening, after noticing it during market day in Nadur. Nadur is a small, friendly village. The Fat Rabbit is a midsized, friendly restaurant that specializes in local recipes, though there are also some more standard items on the menu (steak, pasta, etc.). We sat at one several tables outside, on a quiet terrace just off the main plaza. My wife had pasta with rabbit sauce. I had tuna steak. Both were cooked perfectly, and in portions we could not finish (we took home with us most of a second meal). With a cocktail and wine during dinner, we paid only 40 euro for the entire mail. The restaurant is family run, with a warm, inviting ambiance.

I had a delicious meal here of rabbit legs with a large servng of potatoes and veg cooked to perfect just as I like it, and no, not swimming in fat. There is a great selection of local dishes here with a separate rabbit menu much of which is clearly marked as gluten free. The restaurant is evidently very popular with both locals and visitors with friendly staff and in a lovely location with both in and outdoor seating and very reasonably priced.

Came here with big expectations for a good dinner. Our first inconvenience was that they forgot about our wine order. Ok, that happens so long after we finished with our starters (which we akwardly received at the same time as our appetiser) and after reminding the staff we unapologetically received the wine. We waited for an hour among dirty empty tables for our main course which was quite plain.
Would say that the worst part is that the staff probably consists of local students who've never been taught any lessons about basic culinary manners and table service.

Don't expect too much in the way of service here : staff agreeable but lackadaisical. ( Nobody thought to fill in the time by sweeping the floor, covered in fragments of rubbish, although there were not many punters.) But we didn't go to look at the floor, but at copious appetisers, which mean you don't really need to order a first course, although we did. Fish cake " patties " sound plural but it wasn't.
The rabbit stew was a bit dry but tasted good, : took half of it home. The king prawns were overcooked & unwilling to be separated from their shells. No hand cleanser - lick your fingers.
Dessert menu uninteresting : not a trace of anything fresh, just mousse & icecream.
It must be said that prices are reasonable, & portions large, particularly of vegetables which were crisp & nice. But a tight ship ?

This restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy local Gozitan cuisine in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. With generous portions you will no doubt enjoy a hearty meal. Besides the traditional rabbit, the stewed lamb shanks, pan-fried pork and seafood platter were all enjoyable. There is a good selection of wines to choose from. Service was courteous and efficient. All in all, very good value for money.

Ok starter of sharing platter but the seafood pasta was terrible. Seafood sticks, no octopus and calamari rings out of a packet are not acceptable on an island where lovely seafood is always available. Service was ok but nothing special.

As soon as we got off the Gozo Ferry for an unplanned visit to beautiful island of Gozo on a Thursday night, we realized that most places were already closed. Just when we had almost given up, we tried our luck at The Fat Rabbit. The kitchen was still open. We ordered the Italian platter, a plate of pasta and a bottle of wine. Everything was freshly prepared and abundant. Great service for only €26.50!

The Fat Rabbit in Nadur on the island of Gozo near Malta is a wonderful restaurant just behind the main church in the surprisingly lively square. We hadn’t made a booking but the waiter asked us if we didn’t mind eating in the alley to the side of the restaurant which is miles better than it sounds. The table was good and the waiter quickly brought the menu for us to peruse. I was immediately impressed by the menu itself printed on good quality paper and presented in a hardback folder. One of my favourite dishes is traditional rabbit stew so I was excited to see this on the menu. Prior to the main courses coming we were given a delicious entree of beans and aubergine. The wine and main courses followed without any delay and my main course was without doubt one of the best rabbit stew I have ever tasted. Prices are very reasonable, service was excellent and definitely a good place to visit more than once when in Gozo.

Wonderful. Situated in the quieter square in Nadir; very atmospheric. Friendly and efficient service. We didn’t expect the ‘appetiser’ platter, which was practically big enough to feed us completely. How does the chef make courgette taste so good? We had the rabbit stew (beautiful, by the way), works burger, a proper pizza, and nuggets and chips. Huge portions. A pint of Cisk and three soft drinks. 37 Euro!!?!!! Bravo.
