Great ambience service and very good food. Perfect for a quiet meal in the garden. Book ahead. I don't need to say anymore really

Lovely evening meal in the exceptional setting next to the Abbey. Fois gras was excellent and great steaks too, with a good wine list. All reasonably priced, considering the delicious food. Fabulous.

Had dinner one evening on a most beautiful day and the whole experience was just about as good as it gets. Julien met us and took us to our table on the veranda with the calm and elegance of a master of his art. The aperitif was welcome and very well made and the wine matching was, although very hastily... More

Choice of 2 set menus (15 or 24 euros) or a la carte. We opted for 24 euro and one of us had pate, pike, and strawberries, the other had goats cheese, beef and hot chocolate pudding. Presentation is excellent, portions are just right. The location is great too.

Exceptionnal food in a spectacular location. One of the best place I've ever eaten. Foie gras was excellent, poussins (spring chicken) delicious, desserts perfect... A dream place, almost too good to be true, hidden behind a church in the middle of a garden.

We eat here frequently when in France. The ambiance of the restaurant is superb situated next to an abbey founded in the 10th century. The restaurant is in the old presbytery. When weather permits we outside Julien and David are outstanding hosts. David knows his wines inside out he used to be the sommelier at the Vieux Logis in Tremolat.... More

Tiny little French village in the Dordogne that may take a little finding. The restaurant is delightfully situated in the grounds of the old Abbeye. We didn't think this place was the best restaurant that we have ever experienced but it was very good. The service was impeccable and the food was very good and reasonably priced. A small but... This place is a temple to wonderful food. Our starter of a cheese and ham quiche with a small salad sounds rather mundane. It was, however, sensational. We both had the pork - again, beautifully cooked and simply presented with green beans, apple, and a stack of sliced aborigine the tomato interspersed. Wonderful. Service is just faultless. Not stuffy or... More

Have visited this restaurant many times when staying with family who live in the Dordogne. The service and quality of food at this restaurant in superb, the owner is extremely welcoming as are the other staff members. Lovely to sit outside in the summer with views of a stunning old church; cosy inside in the cooler months. Would strongly recommend... More

Chez Julien is a cute restaurant behind an old church in the small town of Paunat. Julien served our family of 15 people and we enjoyed our evening immensely. Great food, great atmosphere and intimate service. Handled our large group effortlessly.
