Specialising in traditional Sard recipes this restaurant coped with our vegeterianism with panache. The food was beautifully cooked and extremely tasty. They have made a very deliberate choice to cook Sardinian specialties and it really works. Don't be put off because the restaurant is part...of a hotel. It's a real gem.More

This restaurant is located inside a hotel. The food was excellent and very flavourful. Unfortunately, the portions were very small and our bill for two was very high. Very good quality Italian and Sardinian cuisine.

We had carta di musica bread, hot with oil, and then a soup, more like a lasagna, made with bread, chhese and wild fennel, beef with local mushrooms, and also their mushrooms preserved under oil. The house red was excellent! For dessert I had persimmons...server with a little fairy floss and my husband ate a portion of icecream flavoured with fennel! Excellent servivce, friendly and fast. An excellent stop if you want to try the real local produce!More

This is one of the best restaurants I have been to in 10 years of coming to Italy. Chef Patrizia is an amazing, instinctive cook. On my first visit I had a dish of "carta musica", music paper, a thin, thin Sardinian bread layered and...baked with wild fennel and local cheese. So simple yet SO delicious. "Cucina povere", the simple cooking of country peasants, they used what they had, and what they found in the wild. A primi of curlugliones, a traditional type of Ravioli, a little pouch, that is actually braided at one end, in a wonderful tomato sauce, was equally delicious. A dessert of the traditional fried pastry filled with the best ricotta cheese, and served with honey, the best we had on Sardinia. Da Gigi is so good that we went out of our way to dine there again and were not disappointed. If you find yourself in the vicinity of Macomer, and even if you have to go out of your way, this is a restaurant not to be missed. Located in the Hotel Margine, in the center of town. I dream of going back....More

At the end of our holiday in Sardinia we came across this restaurant by chance,it is situated just off the main street in Macomer,it doesn`t look very flashy from the outside, probably because is part of the "Hotel Marghine" but as soon as you enter you...notice the perfectly set tables, the classy sardinian themed decor and the professionalism of the staff. We had typical local dishes:Culurgiones,Ravioli, one other pasta with Bottarga and a Risotto dish, previously we ordered 2 Antipasto for 4 people(they were very generous) and of course we were also served a variety of breads, for that reason we skipped the main course, the portions are very generous, but we managed (just) to fit 3 servings of Sebadas,2 with honey and one with a ricotta/orange filling, they were delicious. The chef came personally to each table for advise and feedback, dressed impeccably in her uniform, you could tell they really aim to please and are passionate about food...I honestly cannot find any negative thing about this place, maybe they should make it more noticeable from the outside or it is possible they want it to keep it as it is:discreet. I am looking forward to my next visit to "Da Gigi"and are going to bring some other food lovers with me,this is a place worth putting on your travel list of "must do"thingsMore
