We went to the restaurant on 1 October to finish our short break.
As we aware that the restaurant is in the hand of Michelin-Starred chef and in a luxury 5-star hotel, that may make me have a high expectation.
Starting from the reservation, I’ve...made a reservation through the phone around 3 hours before arrival. We arrived at the lounge around 6.30 pm but everything is dark. We could not find where is the lounge so we called to check with the hotel again. After that, there is one staff walked out and turn on the light but not even say hello or welcome. Only one of around eight curtains has been opened so we decided to not get inside the lounge.
Given the hotel is on the kind of private island so you need to take a small boat to go to the hotel. We waited for the boat, the guy came across the sea to pick up us without any greeting but, at least there are two guys are waiting to welcome you at the other side.
Unfortunately, after they greeted us, no one escort to the reception and it's quite grey ambient at that time, we couldn't see any signage. Luckily we found it! The girl at the reception took us to the restaurant and finally we’ve arrived :)
The restaurant design is good, fresh air, and good view. I would suggest to go a bit early as when we arrive it was too dark to immerse the breathtaking view.
For the food, I would say it is good. Thai sharing style with a la carte menu. In the menu, they didn't mention or separate each course properly (starter, main, dessert). But I could understand as a Thai resident anyway.
What I like from the food we ordered are coconut and turmeric curry and one of curry dish with pork belly which I couldn't remember the exact name. We are not a big fan with the dessert at Nahm in BKK so we didn't order the dessert here.
Some of my suggestions would be;
- The arrival lounge should be ready if you got the reservation, mean that you may know there is guest coming.
- Cold towel or welcome drink could be served when the guest arrive during awaiting for the boat.
- The rice bowl which they served should have something to cover so the rice wouldn't be cool and dry.
- Thailand is a land of smile, the team member should greet the guest with a very warm welcome.
I hope this would be a constructive criticism and hope we could have other opportunity to come back again.
Happy Friday :)More
