Stopped here for a drink after the 25 Fontes walk. Friendly service and live music from our driver and one of the guys from the bar. Nice stop after a tiring walk.

In resume this place is a Tourist Trap. No discussion on this. Please ignore good ratings on this place because we are locals. Their prices are higher than the average in the island and the quality is really bad. (really) They just use frozen meat, the drinks are not made on time (stored from the previous day probably). I've had... More

this was a welcome place to stop, but dont be fooled by the address into thinking that it is anywhere near the village of Calheta because it is actually located at the top of a local mountain range and its quite a journey getting to here. the location is very isolated and this gives it much of its charm, with... Ordered the world worst pizza here. Undercooked, sloppy and totally over priced.. Nearly fell over backwards when I got the bill. Total and utter rip off. They taking advantage of tourist as there really is no other option close by. If I had to go again, I would have bought a twix and a packet of crisps.

Went there for a coffee and I went inside to see their cakes. The cake stand happens to be next to the toilet door and the only thing one of the waiters could say was, in Portuguese, "Oh look at her! She just wants to use the toilet" There is a sign saying the loos are only for patrons. Surely... More

They didn`t give us bill and cheated. Not nice, felt stupid. Meat was roar, like chewing gum. Wouldn`t go there again.

We visited this restaurant during an organised mini-bus tour and the location on a mountain plateau is superb , with the mists and clouds swirling around the location. We had an organised pre arranged meal and were not expecting very much and were pleasantly surprised. The potato and cabbage soup does not sound inspiring , but was very good especially... More

The place itself was very nice but my salad had sliced chicken in, which was very clearly completely raw in the middle. The waitress took it back to be re-cooked (I'd have preferred a new one) and returned without an apology or any sort of offer on the bill.

Stopped off here as part of a Thomson arranged trip. Included in the price of the whole day trip was a 3 course lunch at the Jungle Rain. Very tired and dated place; toilets filthy and smelly. Food - where do I start? Starter was a broth with some sort of meat in it, disgusting. Main was a claggy clump... More

Despite all the poor reports, we visited again to sample their barbequed Madeiran sausages. We'd been out all day and were feeling peckish. The waitress came over shortly after we sat down and we ordered one portion between the two of us since we knew from our previous visit that that would be more than enough. No problem, she brought... Description
Jungle Rain Restaurant is the only one on the island, which tries to resemble the most hidden jungle on the planet.

The restaurant is unique in Europe, as its decoration and theme environment simulate a tropical forest. The “robot” animals, the trees and decorative plants, and the special effects with background music recreate a genuine “forest” that makes your meal a very special and unforgettable experience.
There, you can closely observe the behavior and the wild roaring of several animals in their habitats, such as the lion, gorillas, an elephant, the anaconda or a crocodile. Simulated thunderstorm, fog and rain complete the scenery and give it a more realistic touch.

We offers you the best in traditional Madeiran and Portuguese cuisine, as well as special dishes of wild meat.
