Stopped here for lunch as part of a tour. The restaurant do seen quite busy when we arrived so must be quite popular. The staff were very friendly and helpful and all spoke perfect english. We had chicken which was served with peas, rice and corn type cube which was tasty. Toilets were clean. Not al a carte but perfectly fine and we enjoyed our lunch.

We had lunch here on a day tour from Funchal. We chose just the right time as there were a few tables free when we sat down but within 10 minutes it was full. I ordered a ham and cheese toasty which came with chips and was only €4.50! For the amount of food it was really quite cheap. We sat outside which was nice, but don't expect a nice view - it is next to a car park and on the main road. Service was good.

Average Portuguese cuisine on the island. The baked meat is very good, definitely the portions are plentiful. The spit, alas, was disappointing, hard meat arrived lukewarm. For a stop in Santana, passing between one excursion and another, if you are hungry you can settle.

Bad meal, bad sangria
18.50 euros for a cold regional kebab that should have been on a bay leaf and 10 euros for 1/2 jug of sangria that looked more like water, even the coffee was bad.

Delicious meat dishes, a lot of food, huge portions and a lot of sides. The sliced beef portions in?lemon? sauce were astonishong. Given with a plate of salad, big dish of a three different kinds of potatos, vegetables and grilled cornflour and cabacchi. And surprisingly its not so expensive.

We found this restaurant while we were looking for the Houses in Santana. Me and my friend, two girls with a weight around 55 kg, ordered the grilled beef cutlet and the picanha. When the disches arrived they were like for a family of 4, the steak was like a kilo of meat, grilled exactly as we wanted. Side dish for Picanha black beans and rice, also fries, fried corn paste and salad. I highly recommend this place for meat lovers.

It is an expensive place for what it offers. The wines cost €15 and €17 when they are wines from €3 to less than €5 in the store. They charge you €3 for a 70cl bottle of tap water. Cod offers you the worst area full of bones. The only good thing is the desserts and the friendly staff.

At the O Colmo restaurant, the good location close to Casas de Santana is an added value. The friendly and lively staff contribute to a pleasant experience. The tourist menu, designed for groups, offers varied options. Despite being prepared for quick service, the food was well prepared. A good choice to enjoy local cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere.

This place runs largely as a tour group stopover lunch place and does a roaring trade. The food was adequate, not great quality but lots of it, including wine and water. For some reason we were not served a promised starter of soup and we were ignored by staff when we queried this. Probably not a place I would stop by my own choice but it fulfilled its purpose on a day tour.

The best rice for your kid;) our son after eating great margarita decided to for a rest of the rice from bow. Dishes of the day were nice, although I have to admit fish was better then a strew. Good value meal, nicely looking traditional restaurant and the village house in front of restaurant looks better then the rest, as you can actually see how it should look inside

Prices in high range forthe quality of what is served. Food is correct but like a good housewife would do. The o thing special or really typical. We ate there 3 times as we're guest at the hotel. Pizza is good rest average or under. Staff is not even smiling and pushes for consumption. Also not sure about the understanding of English. We asked for sparkling water got flat. Requested some explanations on dish waitress did not understand and got vague and fuzzy in the answer. sometimes we got olives sometimes nothing... The overall image is not pro - andidon t talk about how breakfast tables are arranged too late and certainly not according to number of guests rooms occupation - not worth the price except for pizza which remain in high range price cheapest one is at 7.5 high for Portugal even Madeira.

After a long and tough walk and 2 full restaurants, we ended up here. The food was very bad. They are tourist attractions. But don't fall for it. You can have a drink here, but don't eat.
The bread beforehand was baked black, tough and old. The main course (scabbardfish) was far too greasy, not fresh and microwaved. You should fry this fish fresh, so that it is crispy and warm. I was served a lukewarm, tough crust. I was sick for 1 day because of it. Not recommended.

We came here as part of a tour group. The restaurant was extremely busy as there were several other tour groups there. Despite that, however, the service and the quality (and quantity) of the food was outstanding. We had soup, tuna steak with rice, fried polenta and vegetables, mousse, wine and water, all very enjoyable. They catered very well for the gluten-free one of us.
The only downside were the toilets - they were disgusting.

We did a private tour of the East of Madeira and had the unfortunate experience of stopping here for a set lunch. The service was terrible, my ‘roast beef’ was largely fat and gristle, the toilets had no soap for the hundreds of people passing through and it took us probably 30 minutes to pay for the meal, with rude staff ignoring us. Madeira is a lovely island with lots of beautiful places to eat, make sure you don’t waste your time on this dump.

We arrived here for lunch and could see it was very busy, it looked as though there were not enough staff for the number of guests. We approached one of the staff and he bluntly told us to just sit anywhere before rushing off. We nearly left then but were hungry and so we sat at a table on the road-side terrace and waited for a menu. After about 15 minutes a menu did appear and then although we tried to grab the attention of one of the staff members running by us they kept saying in a moment and never returning. After a while longer we just gave up and went elsewhere. From what we saw of the food the portions were big and it looked like typical tourist fare.
