We went for one of the degustation menus and it was the highlight of our 5-day-long stay in Douro Valley. Duck was made to perfection, it just literally fell off the bone. Mushroom risotto was wild and harmonic in the same time. Octopus was one of the best we have ever had. And the beautiful wine pairing made all this... More

This restaurant was highly recommended by a Portuguese colleague of mine, who said that she always eats here when she's visiting the region. My friend and I were not disappointed, and have her to thank for what was one of the best dining experiences I've had. The location was idyllic, just on the water's edge with the most magnificent views.... More

My wife and I booked to come here for lunch on our first day in Douro. It's a beautiful spot and it really doesn't get much better than dining out on the terrace here by the Douro river (anywhere in the world). It is expensive, to the point that you expect exceptional food as well as the amazing setting. The... More

This had to be one of the best meals I have ever had! From the moment you arrive to leaving after three different desserts you are treated well with descriptions of each plate and a few surprises along the way. We were a group of 8 and tried many of the menu items and not one was a disappointment. I... More

We dined at the chef’s DOP restaurant in Porto the previous night and so we knew that we would have another amazing dining experience here. However, this restaurant is very different – it is not in the city and has a more rustic ambience. It is situated in Folgosa, Armamar, on the road between Régua and Pinhão, in what has... More

Just to sit here and look at the river is worth the stay. Wonderful. The dishes are a little pricey. We tasted the fish soup, which was very good. The wines are excellent. The service is good. I recommend to eat a la carte or appetizers and to be happy with the view. If you then like it very much,... More

Called in for an impromptu lunch on a stormy day in the Douro. We were a little underdressed in t shirts but no matter. We didn't have wine sadly as we were driving. We had two mains and one desert. A wonderful tagliatelle in a three cheese sauce and kid leg and ribs with rice. The pasta was very tasty... More

The exterior of the building is unassuming. But the restaurant inside is a jewel. An outstanding service where the staff extended a warm welcome (and good-bye), helped through the menu and the wine list, served food with a smile on the face and explanations of what is served, and this all in a highly efficient way. There was always a... More

Description
Douro is river, villages and suspended vineyards on imposing slopes. It's wine with designation of origin but also D.O.C, Taste of Certified Origins.

It was based on this analogy that, in 2007, the DOC restaurant was born. Situated in Folgosa, Armamar, on the road between Regua and Pinhao, in what is one of the most beautiful scenic routes in the country, the restaurant occupies a building of contemporary lines with a picket based that extends along an elegant wooden deck overlooking the river.

Designed by the architect Michael Scott, the structure also includes a river dock with capacity for 15 boats, a wine cellar and a car park.
It's a place of enormous beauty, blending the grandeur of the vineyard covered mountains and the serenity of the Douro river and the riverside villages, only awakened by the regular passage of the train. DOC serves as a window on this breathtaking scenery, making every meal a unique and special moment.

Since it opened, the restaurant has been the target of a growing recognition of press and public. David Lopes Ramos, the 'Publico' renowned food critic, thus referring to DOC, in an article published in the 'Fugas' supplement: "DOC is a unique case, because, alone, made the Douro kitchen Douro sophisticated and creative in a level previously unknown. This in Douro, our most prestigious wine region. "
