We sat in the terrace over the River Douro. It was a beautiful day and the views were amazing. We had the burrata and the carabinero as appetizers and the beef and codfish dishes. Everything we had, including the extras sent by the chef, was...More

We ate well in Portugal, and DOC was no exception. The food and wine were amazing, and the location was stunning. But, we experienced similar quality food and wine and ambiance for a fraction of the price.

A wonderful meal - we went for dinner and were blown away. Very tasty; great menu endwise list. However, prices are to match! A fun innovation is that there are large screens where you can watch the chefs at work.

The food and ambiance at DOC were beyond compare. It was definitely our best meal during the week we were in Portugal. The service was excellent. The chef, although very famous, came out to greet us. All in all a very delicious experience, not to...More

I honestly can't find one negative thing about this restaurant! Don't miss it! We stopped here on our way into the Douro Valley and our second day in Portugal, and it set the bar out of reach for any other future meal, in Portugal or...More

Nice location right by Douro River. You can eat on the deck or inside, but just watch out for the wind as the tables closest to the water have no wind breakers. So we did move inside. Service was good, food was decent, atmosphere pleasant...More

We had lunch there in December and attended in casual "wine tour" clothing. I think for dinner it would be very much the same. I would consider this an upper end restaurant but it is located in the countryside and I don't... More

Douro is river, villages and suspended vineyards on imposing slopes. It's wine with designation of origin but also D.O.C, Taste of Certified Origins. It was based on this analogy that, in 2007, the DOC restaurant was born. Situated in Folgosa, Armamar, on the road between Regua and Pinhao, in what is one of the most beautiful scenic routes in the country, the restaurant occupies a building of contemporary lines with a picket based that extends along an elegant wooden deck overlooking the river. Designed by the architect Michael Scott, the structure also includes a river dock with capacity for 15 boats, a wine cellar and a car park. It's a place of enormous beauty, blending the grandeur of the vineyard covered mountains and the serenity of the Douro river and the riverside villages, only awakened by the regular passage of the train. DOC serves as a window on this breathtaking scenery, making every meal a unique and special moment. Since it opened, the restaurant has been the target of a growing recognition of press and public. David Lopes Ramos, the 'Publico' renowned food critic, thus referring to DOC, in an article published in the 'Fugas' supplement: "DOC is a unique case, because, alone, made the Douro kitchen Douro sophisticated and creative in a level previously unknown. This in Douro, our most prestigious wine region. "
