18 of us came for dinner last night. The restaurant was very busy (good sign).
As a group we had agreed a fixed price deal - poppadum, set starter, choice of any main, rice or naan.
The starter itself was a full meal - a huge platter of sizzling meat with a salad accompaniment; absolutely gorgeous.
The mains were beautifully cooked and presented, the peshwari naan the best that I have ever had.
By this time we were full to overflowing. Nevertheless, much to our surprise, we were then served a dessert of fruit and chocolate cake, followed be coffee or tea.
Great atmosphere, great food, great service.
We will be back very soon.

Jilabi does it again, a meda anghtbout for us three, attentive staff, a great welcome as always. Food is brilliant a starter box for three that would have been enough for us as a main meal. Main course cooked especially for us that were not on the new menus, but were on the old menus, an absolute joy to be back

A last minute change of plan and this place provided a first class backup option.
Good size interior over two floors and we had no problem finding room on a busy Sunday night buffet.
Buffet selection of hot and cold items including at least ten hot curry choices. These were refreshed just as we went up, so the food was fresh hot and tasty when we ate it.
Two lamb curries and seven or so hot chicken curries, alongside rice and starter items like Tandoori Chicken and Onion Baji etc
There were staff everywhere, they opened and shut the buffet utensils and brought items to our table like Nan Breads and sweets.
Buffet is on Sunday and Monday, the other days are A la carte menu, prices very reasonable.

Went for Xmas dinner have been for many years prior and have always had a brilliant day and food however Xmas 2023 I AM SPEECHLESS!! The place was rammed out with no room clearly overbooked. From the minute we sat down we were so rushed that none of us knew what was happening . Every other Xmas day we have had a platter of meat and different curries however this year was disgusting. A plate of with a raw pink chicken drumstick a small cube of beef and a random breaded thin slice of chicken the type you get in heron foods!! The waiters whipped the plates of poppadoms away from us when we were still eating to put the starter and main down. To our horror we then had the ‘main’ dish tipped out of a bowl onto a leaf on top of the table . It consisted of fries , fried fish which was raw and slimy and some kind of veg mixture which tasted like Chinese!!! I have never seen anything so random and vile in my life. The food really was inedible. They had a small buffet which we didn’t eat from as we were so disappointed and angry with the so called starter and disgusting main but many other customers said food on the buffet was frozen undercooked and a waste of time as the que was massive and there was no food left. Dessert then came after a very long time and after we had complained and spoken to many waiters and the manager. It was a small piece of chocolate cake with a scoop of melted ice cream and a piece of watermelon. The cake was disgusting it was dry and tasted of fish other members of my family had dessert arrive with missing items e.g no cake no icecream the waiter was rushing so much that he dropped a piece of cake onto my daughters lap. When we complained the waiter had a bad attitude. The whole day was ruined and we left hungry disappointed and angry. We felt disrespected and insulted at the crap we were served and the way in which it was served and presented there was no care or thought whatsoever. We have had many good times at jilabi and have been regular customers for many different celebrations I just can’t get my head around the shambles it was . They were charging £40 adults and £20 kids to be served food I wouldn’t even feed to my dog let alone Christmas dinner! We left without paying for anything. Lots of other customers were complaining too and many left without paying for any food. They kept our deposit of £30 x2 I feel they didn’t even deserve that!! Myself or my family will never return here ever again and I’m sure many others that were there on Xmas day won’t either. If health and safety had turned up they would have been shut down there and then for sure. After being a loyal customer for many years I am so angry that everyone was treated so disrespectfully on Christmas Day and I hope they lose a lot of custom because of this as it was disgrace !

Jilabi provided outside catering for an event for us, we had a selection of menu items for a buffet. Everyone liked the food that was a mix of sides and curry’s. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. A good experience thanks to the team!

After waiting nearly 2 hours for the takeaway we ordered, I actually had to call them to check it was coming, to be told “ really sorry but we’re extremely busy tonight(same excuse as the last time we waited 2 hours) we were delivered a cold meal which was lacking the mushrooms I actually paid an extra £1 for. This is not the first time we’ve had issues with Jilabi, the last time we ordered a vegetable balti(wife is vegetarian) to receive a chicken balti. This is definitely the last time I ever have food from them and will be letting family, friends and neighbours know about the substandard food they produce

Our first time at Jilabi, apparently a buffet is offered daily which we had. The waiter didn’t ask if we wanted poppadums, only if we wanted 2 or 4. They charged us for it off course. A waiter hovered around us while we chose our food making a list, it was uncomfortable, I felt I was being watched. The lamb was tender but overall the food was not spiced well and lacked flavour. The desserts were even more disappointing. Sadly a disappointing buffet for £18 per person, not worth it.

Just the perfect evening with friends, and at a low price that puts other places to shame.
Poppadoms and sauces to start, unlimited buffet foods, then they surprised us with special curries made just for us, then they made us special desserts just for us.
All of this including a few drinks came to just over £80, an amazing low price.
Service was extremely friendly and efficient, the only drawback is it is hard to park, as the place gets so full and busy.

My wife and I ate here, as we have before, prior to flying out of Birmingham Airport next day. It’s a really convenient short taxi ride away from the airport hotels and a good option in terms of price, quality etc. The team always make us feel very welcome and you can tell from the clientele, it’s a well used local favourite. Our food was excellent again, we shared both a mixed grill and took a curry dish, both excellent - the breads were lovely as was the rice. Nice touch at the end with a free dessert and cake which went well with an Irish Coffee, made to perfection. The menu is vast with an array of choice and we look forward to returning, next time we’re in the area. Thanks guys 👍

I had booked a meal for my son and me on Christmas day for 5pm via their booking system for which I have a confirmation email accepting my booking. When we arrived at just before 5pm we were told the was only 2 sitting, 1 at at 1pm and 1 at 3pm and asked if I had paid a deposit to which I replied no and was told the was nothing they could do. Having lost my wife to covid previous Christmas eve I thought this would be a nice treat for my son as neither of us like turkey but was utterly disgusted in the way we were treated.

We had a birthday party here. The food took a very long time to arrive but when it did was all cooked fresh & tasted great. The prices are more then we would normally pay the bill was £220 not sure how it got there as we don't drink alcohol. Also the extras like ice cream & tea they offered us was probably included as the bill was not readable when it arrived on scribbled up paper. We didn't question it & paid & left. Also don't park on Aldi car park whilst visiting this restaurant was given a £70 parking fine for parking there so dinner really was expensive!!

The Jilabi has become a very inconsistent Restaurant and felt on my last visit it’s. “All About The MONEY” !
Went during the 50% off Government scheme .
I’d booked a table for 2 , requested to stand at the bar order drinks , firstly the bar person used an opened half empty mini bottle of Tonic water in my partners Gym & tonic which turned out to be Flat , so was changed on request for a full unopened mini bottle, then we wasn’t allowed a table until a 2 seat table became available this took about 1 hour after our booking time , other larger groups whom came in after us were given priority!
Then we asked for the meal deal however suddenly NOT available ! Wonder why ? Anyway ordered and waited over an hour for our starter ! after complaining suddenly arrived ,
The starter was Nice , then approx 1,5 hours later still no Mains , so complained suddenly arrived ! I paid extra on both mains for King Prawns , only 1 small King prawn in each dish ! So a King prawn is around £5 ? The Chicken was Dry & warmed up NOT FRESH ! , Prawn was Overcooked , then the Bill ! Been to the Jilabi before and a Bill for 2 normally £40 , however my bill was over £60 !! However was discounted just below what I normally would expect to pay due to the Government deal scheme.
So not only was the Mains , Drinks & Service very poor I also feel the prices were changed to suit the Current Government scheme in order to generate additional revenue, A little like what was happening in the shops with Hand cleaner.
Is this Legal ??
So guys be aware , stay safe .

Excellent hospitality and excellent devine food!... The best restaurant ever visited... My partner asked for a recommendation of a dish and he was given the best food he'd ever tasted in his life!.... We live in Hertfordshire, but I'm considering moving here so we can be regulars at this wonderful restaurant 😋😁

Staying at the nearby Travelodge I decided to try the Jilabi restaurant for my evening meal. I am so pleased I did! The restaurant has a great ambiance and is very well decorated. The staff were extremely friendly, polite and efficient and I was provided with the menu and my drink order taken quickly allowing my to peruse the menu at leisure. I truly was spoilt for choice but I went for the seekh kebab starter and chicken tikka pathia as my main served with a plain naan. Even though early evening the restaurant was very busy my starter soon arrived and it was simply delicious served with salad, mint sauce and mango chutney. It wasnt too long before my main course arrived and the pathia was simply delicious and of ample portion size. On finishing my meal I was provided with complimentary chocolate cake and ice cream along with a couple of indian desserts. The whole meal was very reasonably priced too. The whole eating experience was truly first class and I will certainly be paying a repeat visit the next time I am in the area. Thoroughly recommended!

Twelve of us rolled up for a family late lunch last Sunday .
The menu is extensive, but you don’t have to go to the trouble of reading it. The host will tell you all you need to know. For those eager to get on with it, a typical selection of main dishes are immediately available in a well presented gourmet buffet with a colourful variety of starters and sides.
Special requests about meals both on and off menu, are welcomed and helpful suggestions are plentiful.
The staff were generously accommodating and we were gifted
several speciality mains which included a Tawa , a Morchi and a slow cooked lamb dish which appeared on the table as if by magic .
And so we found ourselves at a family banquet!!
This was particularly enjoyed by my wife who celebrated her birthday in style-with scarcely any effort from me.
Full Marks Jalabi!!
