The food and view were fantastic - worked out about £85 for a couple with 2 drinks, starter, main and dessert so reasonable given the experience looking out over the sea. Only negative would be that as soon as our starter plates were lifted, the mains were delivered - perhaps felt just a little rushed but we didn't mind and the server told us we could have the table for as long as we liked after we ate.
Highly recommend.

I had a family lunch and loved it. We ordered the menu and requested a vegetarian version for myself (available upon request). The staff was lovely and the view amazing. On a clear day it’s a must-do especially after the rum tasting in chamarel.

4 of us went here on 20 December for my husbands 40th birthday. I booked in advance online. It was very special indeed with the views and a nice change from our hotels buffet. We had 3 courses and drinks so it was quite expensive. I dont know if they read these reviews but i just wanted to mention that we felt rushed. They were watching us alot and taking our plates when one of us had finished, one of our party had to politley say she was still eating. As this happens at the hotel too, i feel its just over eagerness. When the owner/manager gave us the bill he did say stay as long as you like! He assisted us with taking pictures as well. It was worth going for the views and to get out of the hotel for a bit. It felt like a fancy tree house/lodge. While it was pricey you wont get this experience back in the UK so please do it.

We planned to have lunch in Chamarel, with no prior bookings, we managed to get a table for 2 adults and a child.
No doubt the position of the restaurant is jaw dropping, but then if you came for just the view, you could get that further up the road sans the expensive meal.
The restaurant has several dining patios with views to the bay below.
The meal options are limited and overly expensive. The set menu are 975 Mauritian rupee, off the al la carte menu, mains also average about 800 rupees. In the sweltering heat, I was not keen for a set menu, so opted for the salads instead. Portion sizes are very conservative. There is a bar menu, which is more reasonably priced, but you have to be seated at the bar...
The staff are not overly friendly, and it’s mass tourism, with cruise ship bus load en masse on the day we where there.
I would not return, I am happy to pay exhorbitant prices if ambiance, service and food are all on par!

Went for lunch opted for a table by the edge(table not cleared from previous guest)asked if ever this table was free but answer(guests is still here)within 10 mins arrived 04 persons and tables was set for them clearly shows from the waiters' attitude that this table were for them which a shame cause we wanted this table from before.
Table set up very poor no placemats no salt pepper or condiments have to ask several times
Cannot change your mind once your order has been taken without exception even if wrong order
Apart from the panoramic view I've not had a good experience staff never smile maybe am a MAURITIAN....
Not even a Goodbye from the Hostess who was sitting idle on her desk I felt very disappointed

I made a booking for lunch on New Year's day and 4 days before New Years tge restaurant emailed me requesting for confirmation of the booking. I obviously confirmed our reservation. We drove an hour and 20 minutes just to find that the restaurant was closed due to New Years being a public holiday. Such a disappointment. Rating is not based on quality of food or service, but poor management.

We rang this place numerous times to book a table for lunch, but nobody ever answered! We arrived at this restaurant after almost 2 hrs drive and despite the fact that the car park was empty, the security guy told us that they’re fully booked. Not only that, there was no apology from him, instead he told us to drive few miles down the road at his friend’s restaurant and tell him that he sent us there. Felt like if we were tourists and not locals, he would happily allow us to go in. We didn’t mind to wait for a table but he simply turned us away with no apology or anything! Seems like he was trying to get locals to go to his friends restaurant because he knows tourists won’t!

The view is amazing - but that is what you are paying for. It attaches a high premium to an otherwise very subpar restaurant - and I don't say that lightly.
We visited for lunch reservation and did not have a great experience. The service was poor (we were asked to wait by "the viewpoint" while they cleared a table and were then forgotten about; no smiles from anyone; the young waiter bringing our food took it over to the bar first and then stuck his fingers in mine without realising I could see); the food is overpriced for what it is and you're in for quite a wait while everyone gets their Instagram shots if you'd actually like to take in the view.
The restaurant clearly knows what it has with the location and as long as you are fine with accepting that's what you are paying for then you'll be fine. Unfortunately our experience wasn't great but that doesn't mean everyone's is so please keep that in mind.
Having said that, we spent 2 weeks in Mauritius and this is the only meal on the entire holiday that sticks out as being poor - the standard of food over the island is generally so high which is why it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Hopefully if you visit you have a better time than us.

We came here for tea and dessert. We ordered a creme brulee, moeulleux au chocolate, chocolate and vanilla icecream and tea. The waitress bought our icecream and replaced the vanilla with coconut. There was a scoop of coconut icecream on both the desserts. First of all, one of us was allergic to coconut. Secondly, we were not even informed that the vanilla would be replaced. And finally when we explained the case to the waitress, the only solution was to remove the scoop from the dessert. We find it so unprofessional and rude that this was the only solution proposed. Most importantly, there was an insect in my teabag and the tea had a horrible aftertaste. To top it all, I had to pay for both the desserts. We’re very unsatisfied of the rude service of the waitresses

This was our first time visiting Mauritius and Le Chamarel restaurant.
Our waitress was rude and everything seemed too much effort for her, did not crack a smile once. She really shouldn’t be in that field of work if she cannot provide the standard of service that you would expect at the very least.
Myself and my partner had the Veg La Tab’diri, the dishes were nothing special at all and we would have preferred food from a street food kiosk over this.
Our eldest daughter had the tandoori chicken which she said was also nothing to write home about.
Our youngest daughter was smart and only had fries, which is what I think I’d have preferred.
The portion sizes were pretty good though.
We did have a waiter that helped with the dishes as I am vegan, he doubled checked that everything was suitable for me. He even went to a shop to purchase take-away containers as we were not able to finish our food.
It is pretty expensive for sub-par food and I do not really understand how awards have been won for this.
The setting is beautiful but if you are just going for that reason, you could find another area to see the views.
Safe to say we will not visit again.

I have called at the restaurant on a Thursday to book for 1 Jan 2023 and upon my arrival there to my great surprise there is a specified menu for 1 Jan 2023 which cost Rs3,000 per person on top without drinks. I would prefer that on the call I was told that there will be a specified menu which costs that much. I would not have come all the way from Curepipe to have this kind of service. When we asker for the manager to discuss on whether we can have ‘A la carte’ she said no and it was lunch time and difficult to find another restaurant in the vicinity. We said we are going to put a comment on trip advisor and the lady said ‘with pleasure’ which was quite surprising.
I have attached the menu that they were serving so that you can judge yourself if it was worth eating there.

We wanted to celebrate new year at the restaurant and we booked in advance. When we reached there the lady at the reception told us that they were only doing a set menu at MUR3000 per person. We told her that it is too expensive as we were 7 and it would cost us too much. We also told her that they should have informed us about this over the phone when we booked. She responded that it was on their social media page. May be they should ask people to go through their facebook page before making a booking. We asked to speak to the manager. We explained to her that we travelled an hour to go there and that there was no other restaurant open in the vicinity to have lunch. She told us that she wouldnt be able to do anything for us. When I asked the lady if she, as a customer, would have paid for this menu at this price she said no. We had no other alternative than to leave. We had two small children with us who had to travel another hour to get something to eat. Really disappointed. Even some tourists were surprised with this price of this set menu and left the restaurant. Total rip off!

Views are lovely but the food is basic almost like they’ve pre made the meals akin to school cafeteria. No real choice although I wish I’d had the kids meals which was grilled chicken with chips and salad. You don’t get to choose and only our youngest was considered young enough for the kids meal. The 12yr and 14yr were too old! The deserts were not so great in my opinion again no choice. We were all served a cold tapioca pudding with a layer of fruit purée and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Texture and taste weren’t very nice but I’m sure some people would like it.

This spot is obviously fantastic but the gastronomy is poor and certainly way below what we would have expected. They are clearly maximising profits rather than caring to deliver the best possible experience for the customers. First of all we felt rushed upon sitting down and trying to download the menu, one of the house cocktails was not available without any logical reason and actually the Aperol spritz was anything but spritz with probably a cheap prosecco and flat soda used. My daughter saw the waiter drop a basket of bread near the bar, they picked it up from the floor and put it back in the basket for us. So shocked we did not dare complaining on the spot but clearly did not eat it. The food was quickly served, the chicken half cold in the middle and the rice felt that it had been reheated in the microwave. My wife complained and the waiter actually proposed to indeed re-heat it! My wife did not want anything else. What is the point of complaining when waitors clearly do not graps the concept of good fresh food. They eventually came back with the same dish clearly prepared a lot better but my wife had lost her appetite by then. The rest of the food for the family was boring and blend, the salad was large but lacked the quality of fresh food. The toilet for gentlemen had two sitting cubicles where the light did not seem to work, besides the darkness, the toilet seat was broken and dirty. All in all this is really a spot for tourists and I doubt locals come on any regular basis to appreciate the gastronomy.

The view is fantastic, no doubt. But the service and the food were far under expectations. We ordered the Creole table and for 1850 Rupis you get some very everage curry served and a lot of white bread with butter in plastic containers like in the plane! No explanations and as desert we got a Glas with banana mix that was not fresh! We hoped for an experience of Mauritian food - nicely presented in bowls but got a overpriced curry which we had way better before in small local restaurants for less than half the money. Very disappointing for us!
