Fred's has the best fish and chips. Period. Make sure to visit during fishing season for fresh taste. I have eaten fish and chips at nearly every restaurant there is in maritime provinces, but never found anything close to Fred's. Batter is fluffy and smells fresh. Not too oily. Though fries are okay (I think they are from frozen potatoes)... More

If you are looking for fresh and well prepared deep fried seafood, this is a must in the New Brunswick area. They have been there for years and still maintain a very light, crispy batter on their seafood. The portions are so huge that my wife took a meal and I just ordered a side. Even then, we were not... Stopped enroute to PEI for some take out fried clams. They offer 3 portion sizes of clams alone, or 3 sizes of clams and chips. I had a small order of just clams and they were served up quickly with a nice light batter. It was a pretty good portion size with about a dozen clams. The outside seating area... More

We stopped in for lunch on our way from Prince Edward Island to Fredericton. There is a lot of road and not a lot of places to stop, so we saw a sign and stopped in. The place was crowded for lunch, but the service was friendly and quick. We had the fried shrimp and clams and the portions were... More

The food was amazing. We went with friends there after a wedding. We eat had something different from seafood to a hamburger and onion rings. The onion rings were amazing and there were enough for all four of us to share. I learned that next time I should ask for a small portion of clams as the medium was too... More

We did not eat in but arrived at the takeout counter on a desperate search for lobster takeout, it was late around 6:30 and nothing was open that we could find the kind ladies called around and found the fish market just down the way to still be open, that was so nice of them to do that for us! It... More

We were traveling from PEI to St. John, New Brunswick. Hungry and saw a sign directing the way to Fred's. It looked like a good roadside dining place. It was off season, but had huge additional space for busier times. I ordered fish cakes, one of my favorite foods. I was pleasantly surprised to see the huge cakes I was... More

This place had been recommended to us, so maybe we went in with big expectations. The items on the menu were pricey, but big portions. I ordered two fish cakes, which were much larger than I expected. They were served with gross canned peas and carrots, which I wouldn't touch. Coleslaw was good. My husband ordered the fried clams. The... More

We have eaten at Fred's on numerous occasions. We prefer Bel Air or Chez Camille in Cap Pele if you want Fried Clams but Fred 's has a more varied menu and the dining is more formal at Fred's. The atmosphere in Fred 's is casual and the service is usually good. The food , especially the seafood, is usually... More

Seafood galor but my usual is Hamburg steak , that's my favorite or the fish cakes. Well all the seafood is so good. Cap-Pele is renowned for the seafood, best in the Maritimes. After my coconut cream pie with a tea makes my day.
