We passed through the area with a guide and fortunately had lunch here. Noodles were obviously house made and the largest ones we have ever enjoyed, with the possible exception of some versions of chicken noodle soup we have enjoyed back in the states. It would probably be difficult for an English speaker to fully understand the menu and the... More

The restaurant offers Yamanashi's delicacy, hoto, at its most delicious. A visit would definitely be worthwhile. Koshu Hoto kosaku, Kawaguchiko restaurant has many tourist who visit around the Lake Kawaguchiko and Mt.Fuji. It is 15 mins walk from the Kawaguchiko station. Can be tricky to find so make sure it spot it in the map first before you go out... More

I was recommended to have dinner here by the staff at my hotel.I have crispy potato salad for my appetizer and Flat Udon with mushroom soup for main course. I love the soft and smooth texture of Udon in the delicious mushroom soup. Good atmosphere with great service.

The restaurant is beautifully designed, especially the interior. It appears to be very popular with the locals. The hoto noodle is fantastic, and comes in big portions. Although the price for one bowl appears to be on the pricey side, a bowl is usually sufficient for two people. Highly recommended!

Kosaku is a fairly large hoto soup restaurant with lots of sit-on-the-floor charm. It's worth searching for (ask at your hotel or guesthouse); and if you manage to find the place (it's on one of the main roads (the same road that eventually leads to the bridge over the lake), but not in the center of town) you should be... The restaurant is located in the suburbs of Kawaguchiko, however, directly on the bypass and by this easy to find. They serve Houtou only, a Japanese one-pot dish, in several variations. Our Houtous tasted excellent and were served very hot, so the right dish/location if it is cold outside. The staff speaks some English (also English menue) and showed a... More

I ate here on a Sunday, which means lots of locals also seeing the sights in Kawaguchiko. The restaurant was packed, even with a typhoon bearing down on the area. Weekdays I assume are less busy. It was still worth the wait, it tasted great. I'm not sure how it compares to other restaurant's houtou noodles though. There is a... More

So I've heard about how this dish is really popular and I decided to try it since it's close by to my hostel. When I went in, it was really crowded but I just needed to wait for 10 minutes till I was seated. I ordered the pork dish (you can ask for the English menu) and boy was it... More

We went here on recommendation from our hostel, and we were very glad that we did so. Hotou is a type of noodle specific to the Fuji area, so it's a must-try. We asked for a mushroom-vegetable hotou, which came in a boiling pot, and looked like a double portion. It was very rich in the amount & quality of... More
