About
Zeerovers is a local bar and restaurant situated on the waterfront in the fishermen's town of Savaneta. Here we serve fresh fried fish and shrimps with side orders of fried plantain, french fries, pan bati(local version of cornbread), onions in vinegar and tartarsauce. Everything is served to you in a basket as you sit on the dock overlooking the water as fishermen bring in their catch which in fact could have been your meal if you came a few hours later. That said, this is not a place for fancy dining but rather a place where you are welcomed to kick back, relax and get your hands dirty.

If you are looking for an authentic and deliciously fresh lunch option then you have to make a stop at Zeerovers. This is a cash only establishment so make sure you have some dollars before you head there. The menu is simple but awesome; for your protein you have the option of Fish or Shrimp. Everything is caught that day, and if you don’t believe me just look at the fishing boats tied up out back still patrolled by hungry seagulls. You also have the option to add a few sides: fries, plantains, and cornbread. You buy your meal by the pound, or by pieces, so you can choose how hungry you are and go from there! Once your portion is weighed and paid for it is sent over to the chef for a few seasonings and then into the frier. I highly recommend while you wait for your meal you grab a bucket of ice cold beers to sip while you take in the ambiance. If you get lucky and the timing is right you can snag a seat out over the water. As you know I am obsessed with ambiance so to me you can’t beat eating fresh seafood while being surrounded by the amazing colors of the Caribbean sea. There is no silverware here, or at least we didn’t ask for any, so prepare to dig into your food like a glorious heathen. Don’t worry, there are plenty of paper towels and a sink to wash your hands when you are done. I had no problem with this and to be honest I don’t think too many others did either, as evident by the line of 50+ people waiting to order as we walked out. PRO TIP- do as we did and plan your meal here as more of a brunch and beat the crowds! We still probably had 10 or so people ahead of us but it was much better than the crowds waiting an hour later. Don’t get me wrong, I would still come here either way, but if you don’t mind eating a bit earlier why not wait a little less time…It just means you get to eat your delicious meal faster!

The restaurant is as everyone hyped about! We drove about 20 minutes to get here and they have a parking spot on site. We waited on line and we ordered the corn bread, 4 piece of fishes, fried, tartar sauce, and vinegar onion sauce. All for $27, SO CHEAP! We decided to sit near the waters and waited for our waiter to bring out the food. The fish and shrimp were fried to perfection and seasoned heavily, as well as the fries. The corn bread tasted more like a pancake, so would not recommend getting it because it wasn't worth it. The sauces were both good, but I loved the tartar and their own spicy sauce from the bottle. We ended up going back online to try the coconut ice cream, and that ended our meal. The ice cream was creamy and was stored in a coconut. Overall, we left full, happy, and we we definitely return back once more before leaving to travel back home!

We asked where the locals go to eat, and we were told to drive to Zeerovers. We weren't disappointed. It is south of the airport and away from the resorts, but an easy trip with a rental car. You order your food at a walk-up window (the ladies will tell you what is available as it is based on the type of fish/shrimp caught that day, and they can help you determine how much you need). Once ordered, they deep fry the food and bring it out to you (basically you sit at a picnic table along the water). If you want a beer or soda, you order that at a separate window. Food is great and very reasonable (especially compared to the prices of other places in Aruba). Definitely not fancy. Get there by 11:45am for lunch -- gets packed right at noon.

IMO this is the No#1 seafood restaurant in Aruba. They just ask you want you want when you walk in - catch of the day and shrimp I think is all it was (no menu apparent) and weigh out the fresh seafood in front of you. Sitting literally a stones throw from the water this is as fresh as you can get. Food was absolutely delicious!! **Also very good value for money** Only complaint is that there were no knifes for customers so eating is very hands on, which I don't mind normally but fingering hot food when its 30+ degrees (open restaurant so no AC) becomes a very sweaty experience. Either way, would definitely recommend this gem!

Being a West Coast fisherman I was excited to see the fresh shrimp and fish when we paid for them. We sat down with her bucket of beers and the view was great and the staff is super friendly. The huge disappointment was the fish and the shrimp were so over cooked in the deep fryer that I just about cried. I had planned on going to her three times at least while we are here in the next two weeks and I’m afraid we will not go back and eat anything there. Greasy, salty overcooked. What a shame!

Fish was super fresh and placed in a basket with tasty sides. Short wait - we made sure to go early on a weekday. Inexpensive and good value with an authentic vibe, eating a few feet away from where the fresh catch arrives by boat and is prepared on the spot!

Zeerovers is a must try when in Aruba. It is a 20 min journey from the hotel area by taxi and is worth every bit of the 50$ it will cost you for the ride. That being said I suggest taking the bus which is much cheaper, and helps support public transportation on the island. At most times you can watch fishermen haul in their catch, which will be served at Zeerovers, while you eat. You literally can't get fresher fish in Aruba. They serve whatever was caught that morning, fried, and with your choice of pickled onion, corn bread, fries, and/or plantains. I recommend getting it all, trust me you wont regret it!

If you like to stand in a line for an hour then this is the place for you. The choice of fish is zero the only fish was a bony cutlet so we went with the shrimp and I must say they were very good. The staff taking the orders were about as efficient as a chocolate spoon. It was agonizing to watch the two in the order booth, so slow it was painful. The price was average and there are much better places at less money where you can sit and give your order. First and last time, I feel many reviews are after the buckets of beer that seem to be so prevalent.

This is a great local place. It’s right on the water where the boats come in. They serve seafood in big baskets and cold beer in ice buckets. You throw the skins and shells to the fish under the dock. If you are looking for fancy....skip this, but if you want really fresh seafood in your swimsuit(if you want) this is for you. There is usually a line to order.

Great fresh seafood right on the ocean. Go there at sunset and sit on the pier for beautiful view. This restaurant is always crowded with locals, but is well worth the wait. Can be a bit intimidating if you don’t know what to do, but here’s how it works. When you first go in there’s a shack ahead of you. If the line is long send someone from your party to get drinks while you wait in line. When you get up to the window you will tell them how much shrimp or fish you would like. Ask them for suggestions if you don’t know how much. They sell it by weight. Don’t forget to order some sauce and sides if desired. You pay there and they will then give you a wooden number. Go get your drinks if you haven’t done so already. Then you can head out to the pier or a shaded table and they will bring the cooked fish to you. Simply delicious.

The seafood here is dubbed the best on the island, even by the locals. It is a drive from the touristy area but well worth it. My friend and I came here twice and it was a 30 min drive each way. The food is freshly caught and cooked. You order your selection of seafood and it is selected and weighed in front of you, then you take a number and select a seat. Just a couple of tips for first time visitors. If you’re coming here on a Saturday do yourself a favor and make reservations. I didn’t make any and all of the tables on the water were reserved. However, when I called to make reservations for the following night I was told they do not take reservations on Sundays. Call ahead to confirm. Also, they have a separate counter for you to order your drinks but there is a $10 minimum (which you will surpass on food anyways) but you must ask to add your drinks to your food order or you may be out of luck if you have a small party. If you’re on the fence about going here definitely add it to your list. The food was delicious and affordable, and the setting was beautiful.

Stopped here for lunch. The menu is shrimp and the catch of the day, with a couple of sides. Staff were very pleasant. All the fish is fried, but not oily/greasy fried at all. It was still moist and seasoned well. What I really enjoyed were the fishing boats bringing in their fresh catch right to the restaurants dock as we ate.It doesn't get fresher than that. 2 Wahoo steaks and a pound of extra large shrimp,2 tartar sauce, pickled onions and side of fries for $33. A bargain in Aruba. They serve beers as well, individually or by the bucket.... Highly recommend.

We decided to give this place a try as the other side of the island experienced a power outage. I'm so glad we tried it because it was so good and a lot of the locals were eating here. We ordered about 2 pounds of shrimp, three fish, cornbread, and fries and it was a huge amount of food, unlike in the US where you get like 10 fries and a small little piece of fish. We struggled eating it all and it was so affordable. After looking at other places menus we probably paid for our whole meal what one entree would have cost elsewhere.

Be prepared to stand in line to pick your fish and shrimp (that is all they serve). Get some drinks and watch the sun go down. Then comes the bowl of fish and shrimp lightly fried with good fries and plantains for sides. Be prepared to peel the shrimp - a bit messy but worth it! Fish is great too, but bring your own knife if sharing!

Zeeovers is the best priced food on the Island, I would recommend that you get there by 4:30 pm unless you want to be in a line. Your choices are fish (we had Baracuda) or shrimp (very large), everything is deep fried, you pay by the weight. The food was excellent and messy, very simple place.
