An institution located at a busy intersection where one can watch traps and people going by. Lots of local regulars, only heard french (no Flemish or English). Went on a Friday evening and it was very busy. One of the 3 waiters was sick but...the remaining 2 did a fantastic job serving the tables, bravo! This is a no frills brasserie, there is real history inside (we were with our dog on the terrace). And yet the food is really excellent, there are original creations as well as the standard Belgian brasserie fare. Also they have good wine of the month that can be ordered by the pichet. Chef has been there more than 20 years.More

I visit my family in Belgium I heard that best mussels are in "Les Trappistes" so we went there straight away, amazing experience with very highly professional staff, owner are unbelievable nice greeting every single customer on person, we order mussels as main curse and..."Le Caffe Gourmand" for dessert recommended by one of staff. Can't say more than best choice we decide to, amazing fresh food and presentation beautiful same as restaurant. Highly recommend for food lovers, we went stuffed happy and can't wait to back with next visit. Thank you "Les Trappistes" for unbelievable time spend with you. Definitely come backMore

Nothing special.ocated in a relatively bad area of the town, but the place itself is not as bad as you would expect for Molenbeek. The service is very friendly but relatively inefficient. They offer Belgian specialities of very average taste, but not bad neither. The...prices are average too, but rather on the higher side. We have not been on a evening with music, so I can't judge. But the quality of the dishes is really not very attractive.More

Those looking for the authentic cuisine of Brussels, look no further: this is it. Without tourists around, this is no tourist trap: Les Trappistes is how the Brussels brasserie should look, feel and taste. A good "Américain" is a raw one, and in this case...the vintage dish is prepared at the table the way it should. Not for the faint of heart though, the way the mashed meat pours out of the grinder in the midst of families and friends. Only diehard lovers of dead animals eat them raw, and raw they are served by a waiter who seems pretty marinated himself, taking orders with an air of 'mind your own business'. Vegetarians take note: there aren't a lot of options here, but the vegetarian salad is exquisite and copious. One small note: there should have been better, local types of Gueuze on the menu. But hey, the restaurant isn't called Les Gueuzes. Nice that you can eat all day here. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't.More

Original decor, professional waiter with a sense of humor, who makes a mean table side "Américain Frites" to die for, excellent price/quality-wise. A true Belgian restaurant making honest Belgian food.

we visited the bar in Brugge after it was suggested by a local and it is located in a cellar with fantastic character. The owner is an Italian who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and was behind the bar bar tending...with his workers. They were all incredibly nice and it had a "local" feel and is not meant as a tourist trap though it is five minutes from the marketMore

whatever you do, do not order the Brussels waffle. I was served one that was frozen far too long ago, then baked or microwaved until it was impossible to chew through. I kid you not : bits were flying towards other people's table as I...attempted to cut through it. When complained, the waiter said he was sorry but it was still on my bill. When I asked him why, he told me because I had already started to eat it.More
