We met some friends at the club and enjoyed a glass of bubbles then a lovely 'Pub' style meal. It has a lovely out look to the sea but in between the beautiful yacht and boats. We then wandered down and sat in the boat...More
Decided to drive into Yorkes Knob on the way to the Airport from Palm Cove. Saw the boat club and decided to have some lunch. We both had steaks which were cooked to our liking and the beers were cold and resonably priced. Staff were...More
Beautiful setting, food was reasonable, however priced a little on the high side, apparently they have a new menu.
The bar staff need a little Professional training. They weren’t on the polite side that’s for sure. I find Blue Water Bar & Grill more inviting.
First they brought out the wrong meals, then they left my girlfriends meal on a table 10 m away for 15 minutes before they tried to serve it. It was so dark we couldnt see what we were eating and when we asked for candles...More

Hi Runaway Su
Best policy runaway from Yorkeys Knob Boat Club. First rule of business look after your customer. Management there just don't care!!! After a disastrous meal with guests I wrote to the Commodore & the restaurant manager. Not a response from either. Not even a phone call?
I assume the place is run by the chef who just doesn't care either. Front of house staff try so hard but without support. Meals used to be OK, not gourmet but good pub grub. I live in Trinity Beach and have patronised Yorkeys on & off for the last 6 years. When I made comment to other locals after our visit, they just made a face and said they had stopped going there.
Just leaves the tourists who probably get varied experiences but have no need to return. Fortunately for the club, these customers seem to be enough. Drawn by the lovely location there seems to be a ready supply of this type of customer. Be assured the locals are going elsewhere. The Smithfield Tavern serves a reasonably priced meal of good consistent quality.
To reiterate our experience. We ordered at 8 pm meals which finally arrived after 10 pm. My wife wanted to leave but who is still serving food at that hour in Cairns?? So we waited. The steaks were fine. The whiting was dry, over cooked, just inedible. The garlic prawns, some still with bits of shell attached, were barely passable if you ate carefully.
After asking for the duty manager we got members prices on the drinks & we refused to pay for the fish, which was practically untouched. Not much compensation for the poor service, awful meals and a long wait!!
We will NEVER return to the Yorkeys Knob Boat Club.
