After a torrid journey which included driving from Oxford via London, the Tunnel and Paris in pretty foul weather, we were delighted with this restaurant. So happy to be back in France enjoying simple tasty lovingly prepared and presented food and wine. Merci boucoup.

This place was recommended by the DK travel book. We went after visiting The Chaumont sur Loire garden festival nearby. The Menu du Jour was Hummus w Courgette galettes, Carpaccio of Beef and Strawberry soup for dessert - all for Euro14.50. It was delicious ! Valaire is a quiet country village, the atmosphere is delightful.

Tonight, for the first time in many years I left a French restaurant with a feeling of disappointment. Yet we set off with high expectations - a cosy dining room in the French countryside, lovely terrace, a slightly quaint, bric-a-brac style of furnishing - but the first uncertainties came with the slate shown to us... which offered not much to... Lovely traditional bistro with very friendly staff and gite/apartments at only 80 euros/night. Excellent cuisine at very reasonable prices, and full most evenings with French- a good sign. Over a long weekend we worked our way through the menu with no disappointments. Splendid cave to pick your wine including good selection of Loire, particularly local Cheveny. Excellent location for chateaux... More

Spent 2 days for the wine tasting at this adorable restaurant in Valaire. Cecile has an amazing hand at cuisine- her blanquette de veau is out of this world. The mi-cuit chocolate gateaux are like a dream. She was so sweet to give me, hand -written, some of her recipes. Can't wait to try them when I get home. Will... More

Nice place, lovely terrace, the small river slowly passing next to the tables, interesting location not far from Blois... So many positive elements for this restaurant! But the experience was poor, mainly because of the service that was really deceiving. We reserved a table but had to wait 10 minutes before having our seats, then 10 minutes more to see... More

Such potential! Beautiful location, everything is so promising. The food is awful. Poulet Fermier was a boiled chicken wing with a bit of white chicken. Two of my close friends live in V. and hang their heads in shame at the poor show this is.

Simply prepared fresh food with a Mediterranean accent, and good local wine, make this a great spot for lunch, especially outdoors by the river. It is just slightly out of the way, but not far from many of the sights and attractions in the Loire Valley. The service was welcoming and English-speaking, and the prices were very reasonable
