Identified via Trip Advisor and lived up to it's excellent reputation. My husband had the marinated anchovies for his starter whilst I had the mussels. On both counts absolutely delicious. My husband had a traditional Greek veal stew with eggplant for his main whilst I...had the grilled prawns. Both meals were excellent, beautifully cooked and flavoursome. We had the house White wine which was also very good. Excellent service, nice atmosphere and would highly recommend.More

Worth the wait!

The food was delicious, especially the marinated anchovies. We went twice! Service is a bit hectic but that’s to be expected on a Greek Island. We will be back!

Happy birthday

Great place. Loved the food. Waiter upstairs was great. I booked beforehand and mentioned it was my birthday. Restaurant booked me a table upstairs over looking the harbour. They brought me a cheesecake out with candle on. Nice surprise. Really enjoyed ourselves.

I wish I had this at home!

What an amazing place to eat. The food and service is second to non Proper food made with care The staff are fabulous and the turn over crazy. Dint be put off by the que it's worth the wait

Lovely fish dishes and very good service

Best surprise ever, in Nidri. Fish dishes were very very good. Service was impeccable, despite the long queue of people waiting for a free table.

Don’t understand the hype

Booked a table as recommended but wasn’t ready when we arrived. Actually had to wait half an hour for people to leave. Food was ok. Very busy, service rushed. Mains were being served whilst people still eating starters. Huge cockroach running round. Another table told...us someone had requested upstairs seating for this reason.More

Tasty things says the son max

Best bolognaise in the world 2 years running according to our son. The barrel is one of our favourite tavernas and we alway visit every time we are in nidri. We love the food and service. Thank you and see you soon

Amazing restaurant

Amazing and delicious food, good service . Must try sea food with traditional saganaki and they have delicious pizzas. Worth a visit !

Quality food at excellent prices. Drinks reasonable too.

Anniversary meal. The service here is excellent. Fillet steak done to perfection, grilled Octopus mwah! Beautiful wine and a free dessert. Going back tonight for more. The menu is superb and competitively priced.

The food was excelent. We liked it. After we ask for the check, they suprised us with some kind of dessert ( i think it was local ice cream ). I recomand this restaurant and stuffed calamari, it was amezing!

The Barrel sublime as always a must visit in Nidri. Avoid Ergon though…

The Barrel is a wonderful restaurant run by a beautiful family who care very much about you and do anything they can to make your meal special. The food is exceptional what ever you order and last night the risotto with squid ink and prawns...sublime. This was so welcome after the awful experience in Ergon with and aggressive manager who is rude and does not care about his customers. We heard this morning that he added 14 euros to and 80 year olds bill and when questioned said it was tax and then claimed to speak no English!!!! Trust me he can speak English and very aggressively! Anyway please go to The Barrel we always book to avoid disappointment as it is always so busy unlike the empty Ergon!!More
