The food and welcome make this place well worth the journey to St Jean de Minervois. Menu is limited but there will definitely be something for all tastes. The food is excellent, uncomplicated cuisine prepared with a high degree of expertise. Wine list is excellent...as you would expect in this area. Do not expect a quick dinner, just enjoy the surroundings and the conversations.More

There isn't much in town but having Auberge de l'Ecole makes staying two weeks here even more enjoyable. Brigitte and Patrick are amazing hosts and Brigitte's cuisine is simple but perfect for the setting. The chalk board menu changes daily with 4-5 appetizer and main...choices, including lamb and duck most days. We stayed in town two weeks and ate there at least 5 times - and Brigitte will deliver her boulangerie each morning to your home if you ask. Wonderful.More

We found this restaurant thanks to TripAdvisor. What a find!! We had an exquisite meal here on the final Saturday night of our trip. Everything was superb: the menu, the food, the wine, and the hospitality. I hope we will find ourselves in the area...one day so we can return.More

Every year we come back to L'Ecole (8 so far)and we're never disappointed. The food is always fantastic and the service delightful. And the location, in tiny St Jean de Minervois is very special. It's not as far as it looks and is well worth...the drive. Especially on a warm sunny day in April. Hosts Brigitte and Patrick are amazing. But back to the food. Always a variety of entrees, mains and desserts, and always local and seasonal. My entree of baked Camembert and main of slow, and I mean s..l..o..w roasted veal shoulder, both tasty. Miss K's entree of gambas (the biggest prawn I've ever seen) with a tiny, beautifully baked gambas pie. She also had the veal. A-mazing! All washed down with a delightful bottle of Merlot from Quarante and a few glasses of Minervois red, generously shared by Monsieur Patrick. We can't wait to return (next week) PS the photos don't really do the food justice.More

We were fortunate to have friends who had been here before and thought we might enjoy it. We did, from the entree of chevre chaud in what seemed like a nest of puff pastry, but, really, like a nest to the mains...Two of us had...the entrecote of veal, one had the grilled duck and the other coq au vin. All good. Wine pairing was also excellent. I had the pear tart for dessert and the glace with caramel was amazing as well. But, really, a couple of things set it apart...Hens peeking through the windows were a fun sight to see and the owner, chef and server were very welcoming. Charming and delicious.More

It doesn't get any better than this. On our annual sojourn to St Chinian this June we made our way, with friends, to a favourite restaurant, and we weren't disappointed. The food was fresh and amazing, the chef and her husband were unbelievably welcoming. A...tiny old school house high in the vineyards of the Minervois. It never disappoints.More

No frills here. The wonderful cassoulet, just made with duck, was preceded by the local Muscat de Saint Jean de Minervois. Delicious meal!

This restaurant is very remote in the depths of Haut Languedoc in little village Saint Jean de Minervois. The village has no shops and survives on wine industry alone The resturant was originally a school and is now run hands on by Brigid in the kitchen...and Patrick on the floor. We were recommended her by Restaurant La Table in nearby Assignan and were not disappointed The restaurant is very unpretentious and has the appearance of an old fashioned cafe However the food speaks for itself.Brigid who has cooked for Heads of State when working at United Nations in New York cooks sublimely with locally sourced products in a traditional way Cannot recommend enoughMore

12 of us descended on this tiny auberge (I suspect they do a maximum 20 covers) for my mother-in-law's 70th birthday. I think such a large number gave them some logistical difficulties, but they dealt with such a large party really well and the service,...and the food, was superb. The cassoulet was the best I've ever had......and as for the Muscat?! A really friendly family run this Auberge. we were staying in a villa up the road, and they were happy to take orders from us for bread each evening and deliver it the next morning. Would strongly recommend this place.More

Very good food at very good prices. Lovely wine from the neighbourhood. While the lady of the house cooks wonderfully at her pace, the man of the house entertains its guests with his stories. Located far away from everything, in the old school of the...village. No luxury but a real and very good experience, something you will never forget.More
