I’ve had Portuguese egg tarts before, but never ones like this; these are so insanely good. Fresh, flaky pastry holding a delicate, quivering egg cream with perfectly balanced flavours.
Together with friendly, helpful service and a small selection of insanely delicious choices, this is a great dessert option to take home or to the office. Full instructions on how to keep or freeze are on the box (don’t refrigerate!)
I cannot wait until restos open again so I can sit and enjoy these with a coffee on the premises. A simple pleasure elevated to the sublime.

The ambience and pasteis and coffee are very good. We were shocked to see the front staff pick up the pastries with her hand and place them direct on a metal tray not meant for good. She had just been handling phones to do Covid check-in. In these covid times it is important to follow basic hygiene measures. I suggest other customers point this out to the staff until they change their ways. A pity to spoil the experience of a great place.

Dear David, we are very strict on hygiene and are controlled every year on the matter and yes the metal tray is meant for good.
FYI, only one hand is used for pastries and the other one is made for the rest (phone, coins, ...) and yes sometimes an error can happen as we are all humans and therefore we have a sink just behind to clean our hands.
Did you talk it through with the staff to understand all this before posting on TripAdvisor ? We would have been happy to explain it to you in person.
Hope to see you again

We went there at lunchtime, initially to buy pasteis but finally we decided to eat some there too. The pasteis are excellent, tasty and freshly, made. We felt immediately welcome by the team and enjoyed our lunch there. They have different pastries, I tasted the original pasteis, one with chocolate and a bolo de amendoa which was also excellent. A place to recommend if you want to feel like being in Portugal!

Don't go to Forcado! I went earlier today (7/3/20) to Forcado for sweets and coffee for the first time. I queued to get them and I noticed that the server would serve the sweets by touching them with bare hands. When I asked him why he wasn't using a metal pincer he replied, "why? I always do this way!" When I told him that he touches many surfaces and then he touches the sweets. He said that he uses his right hand only for the sweets and only the left for money. He seemed annoyed with my question. ! It was like a dialogue between deaf people. How much a metal pincer cost? What about some common sense and maybe politeness? I don't want to go back there!

Dear Natasa A,
I'm sorry you feel this way, but let me assure you that we take hygiene very seriously. We are audited by AFSCA (Belgian hygiene department) on a regular basis and we've never had any remarks, only positive points. As explained very calmly to you in our pastry shop, we are very careful on using one hand for pastries and the other one for the rest. We also wash our hands on very frequent occasions. A metal pincer for such products would not be easy, useful nor practical as it is slippery and could deteriorate the quality.
Sorry to read that my extensive explanation to your question while in our shop, was not experienced as such, from your point of view.

We used to love Forcado and have spent many hours here enjoying coffee and pasteis over the past years. But when one of us brought a friend here on a Saturday afternoon nothing seemed to be left of the former friendly atmosphere. We weren’t allowed to check for ourselves if there was a table available but were told repeatedly, by a none too friendly lady, she would check for us. Why on earth? Instead of one of us being able to sit down while the other was queuing we both had to stand in line at the counter with the many people ordering pastries to take away. Once we had ordered and paid it turned out the small back room was unpleasantly packed, hectic and loud. Staff was also checking constantly if people were ready to leave. Coffee and pastries were still good, but we will definitely look for another place to take visiting friends.

EXCELLENT pasteis de nata! If you are a fan of the small Portuguese pastry, this is a must. The custard is rich in flavour and the crust is perfectly flaky but not dry.
Popped in to buy 4 pasteis to go for my kids to have their first try. They LOVED it! €8 for 4, so €2 per piece.

This is a must visit in Brussels. On the same block as the Horta Museum. Some of the best pastries and coffee I've ever had. I went twice, and tried to go a third time, but they're closed on Mondays. Treat yourself. Lovely help, scrumptious pastries and delicious coffee. I used to be a coffee house owner and these folks do it to perfection, Plus, a nice restroom. Right near the tram stop, too.

Excellent pastry. Good Coffee. Many different versions of the famous pastei de nata, but the owner will insist, correctly, on the classic. Nice smd clean place.

We’ve tried natas in lots of place and until today our favourite was from a market in Cape Town, but today this little shop near to the Horta museum took the crown. Pastry perfection, and excellent coffee and service too.

We stumbled upon this bakery / cafe having mistakenly read the map wrongly and gone south instead of north (don’t!). Our bad map reading led us to discover this gem and we returned the following day for more. The choice of products is small but my they are all delicious! Particularly wonderful were the Portuguese custard tarts, with a citron version. If I lived in Brussels I’d be a very regular visitor.

Bumped into this portugese place on our way to the Horta Museum (which is a must see, by the way). Very kind service and the best pasta del nata we have eaten anywhere in Europe outside Portugal. Good selection of coffee and tea as well.

Last year I celebrated my birthday in Lisbon and indulged in pasteis de nata. This year for my birthday in Belgium, I wanted to do the same! Did some research and found this place. I tried the original and the chocolate pasteis. The chocolate one was decent, but the original was delicious! Reminded me of the ones I had in Lisbon. Delicious!
