The set up of the restaurant is lovely , the ambience is beautiful and a very family feel. The food was absolutely delicious, we had the scampi for our starter and pork, mussels and the tomato pasta for our mains , and a tiramisu and...espresso for desert. The restaurant staff were incredibly welcoming , very friendly and professional, up for a laugh and were there wanting to speak and create conversations with you , as well as offer their own recommendations. I highly recommend this restaurant, it’s beautiful environment and amazing food will not disappoint, it was packed with people when we were in and everyone was lovely and seemed to enjoy themselves.More

DEFINITELY DON'T COME HERE TO EAT! They don't even welcome us, so we take a seat. Then they come and aggress us in a rude way

On a visit to the Saint Gilles area, we booked at Le Waterloo, after having read the many good reviews. And it is good indeed. Many traditional “heavy” creamy dishes I don’t usually go for but decided to try on this occasion. And they were...really good and plentiful with yummy creamy sauces. We had the jambonneau aux deux moutardes and the canard and both were cooked to perfection, though maybe a tiny bit too salty. For starters we had the asperges à la flamande, also excellent. A recommended place if you’re in Saint Gilles and not on a diet!More

I found this neighborhood gem for a late dinner on Sunday (9:15pm) on a very hot night. For appetizer I had the shrimp croquettes--2 large croquettes with a very small salad, lovely but I might have skipped it if I knew that complimentary bread, butter,...and olives were coming. For a main, I chose the duck breast with pink peppercorn cognac cream sauce. Wow! The duck was perfectly cooked. The sauce was tasty without being too heavy, with plenty of fresh mild peppercorns. The entrees come with small salad & croquettes (plain this time & the only boring point of my meal). I'm very happy that I followed another reviewer's advice of the speculoos tiramisu, it was really special! This place is definitely a favorite of locals, there were a few tables there before me & still lingering over beers at 10:20 when I left. Cons: the restaurant is a little small, no outdoor seating, & no AC. Pros: English menu, open late, accepts credit cards. And the food is divine!More

Ate dinner twice at Le Waterloo over the Christmas/New Year holidays. Excellent home cooking. Last time around we had 3 tasty main dishes (their famous boulettes, les petits os and a steak tartare), 3 delicious desserts, 2 bottles of good red wine and 3 coffees...for a total of precisely 99 euros. The service is very friendly too. Reservation absolutely necessary because the restaurant is full to the brim every day and night.More

We came across this little restaurant early one evening and noticed a few tables vacant so we entered. Unfortunately, every table was booked for the evening. We made reservations for a few evenings later and I’m so pleased we did. The service was efficient, the...drinks and food orders were taken immediately and both arrived quickly. My wife had a chicken dish while I had pork, both were excellent. The man sitting next to us indicated that he ate there most evenings - that it was one of, if not the best, restaurant around. Consistently good food for very reasonable prices. You must have reservations for every evening. We will fit in another visit before our trip to Brussels is over.More

Stumbled across this place for lunch whilst on the way to museum horta. Set priced menu, sadly didn't have the Carbonadde we were after but the steak was the best representation of the local dish all holiday. Attentive service, very well priced.

A nice place, but the customers are seated like in a sardines tin. The service is very correct and the food tasty. Special mention for the quality of their sauces. Middle range prices.

Celebrated ny birthday with dinner here. Reserved through their FaceBook page and they replied within a reasonable period of time. I had the duck breast (medium) with pink peppercorns and cognac, my daughter, as usual, had a steak (rare) with mushroom and cream sauce. I...wanted to try the duck a l'orange, but unfortunately it was not available. Nevertheless, I was not disappointed with the alternative. The server speaks French, we speak English but we got along fine. She offered the English menu (although our difficulty is more on spoken rather than written French, it was nice to know that they have an English version :-)) and our orders came perfectly, from our drinks to our main courses to the coffee and dessert. And because we were there to celebrate my birthday (and maybe also because we were first time customers at the same time), the aperitifs were on the house. Joyeaux anniversaire!More

I was looking for a restaurant near our accommodation in Brussels for my girlfriend's 30th birthday and Le Waterloo was a great choice. Whilst the restaurant looks a little unassuming from the outside, the food is absolutely superb and the staff are incredibly welcoming and...friendly. Offering top quality Belgian food, we ordered the mussels for starter and the beef carbonades along with the duck for our mains. All the food was delicious and there was a great selection of beers to choose from too. Highly recommended and many thanks for a great night!More

I was looking for a place nearby by Airbnb and I was lucky enough to find Le Waterloo. They offer traditional Belgian dishes and their steak is prepared perfectly and offers a lot of flavor. Their wine is also really well-priced (about 2.5 glasses for...~4 Euro). I also sampled dessert (Tiramisu) and it was delicious. They offer an English menu but the staff speaks very little English. Nonetheless, they are very friendly, patient, and hospitable. It's definitely more of a local spot and I was lucky enough to split a bottle of wine with another patron. If you're in, or near, Saint-Gilles I definitely recommend eating here!More

Stopped by for lunch at the weekend. Service was friendly and attentive. Had the steak with green peppercorn sauce which was cooked perfectly. Very relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it if you're in the area.

We had dinner at this small neighbourhood restaurant in Saint-Gilles on a Sunday evening. Le Waterloo is an unpretentious place with a simple interior and a pleasant atmosphere. We had a Belgian classic, Flemish beef stew (‘carbonades flamandes’) with chips, and one of the suggestions...written on small blackboards hanging over het counter: doe steak with cranberries on apple and mashed potato croquettes. The portions were generous and the food was good value for money. The service was quick and friendly. We were happy to find that Le Waterloo serves beer from the Brussels microbrewery Brasserie de la Senne. We tried a golden blond Zinnebir and a dark Belgian Stout called Stouterik and liked them both. As the place is very popular with the locals, it is advisable to make a reservation.More
