I've been going to Mawal regularly for more than 2 years now and the quality has been very good and steady over this time. Mezze are really a treat! At the beginning I used to have menus but actually they are pretty big, so with...time my partner and I switched to picking our mezze à la carte, always with good result. The service is good and friendly.More
We were a group of 9 to invade the restaurant on a Saturday night. Reservations had been made, and our table was waiting for us when we arrived. The waitress was on top of her game making her recommendations on what to order and how...much for our group. We always want to try as much as possible and share the different dishes. She also recommended a white wine to all of our liking; and not the most expensive on the menu! The service was smart: split our orders of mezze in 2: That part of the table got 5 dishes, and the other part of the table got the same 5 dishes too. This way one dish didn't have to travel around to 9 people. The time between the veggie mezze and the meat was maybe a little long, but only maybe! It did give us a nice little digestive break as we all had been indulging in the delicious mezze brought to the table. We all had a great time! At the end we paid 380 Euro for everything: 3 types of fried mezze, 5 veggie mezze, 3 meat mezze, dessert, coffee, 4 (or was it 5?) bottles of wine, 6 bottles of water. Well worth it!!! And we did leave a healthy tip (in cash) to make sure we'll be welcomed again ;-)More
Mawal gave me a very nice first impression on Lebanese food. Me and my grilfriend tried 4 different dishes which we shared and I absolutely loved it. The tastes and flavours were all very different and the combination was really nice in my opinion. I...didn't notice any slow service as I read in some reviews, so for me this was a good experience (at a very affordable price).More
Arrived at the restaurant at 18:05. We immediately ordered and got served half of entries in a reasonable time. One and half hours later and we are still waiting for the rest of the entries and main dish. After 2 hours we asked for the...bill and left. To sum up overpriced, very slow for average food.More
In between Italian, Greek, Asian Restaurants, you will find this nice place.
Restaurant is small and clean.
Very friendly service - Thank you!
Good, original libanese starters
I had grilled poussin from good quality. It was a bit to dark but still...ok.
Very tasty libanese Red wine
Prices are ok and not to high!
Good place for a cheep but comfortable evening!More
How would you feel if, entering an essentially empty dining room, you saw every single person having arrived AFTER you being served first? That was the maddening experience we had to endure at Mawal. Apparently a large group had booked in advance and got the...undivided and exclusive attention of the kitchen until they left the place.
We managed to have some tasteless, soggy olives brought to the table – about an hour after we sat down. We had decided to leave when the first starters appeared – an hour and a half had passed. Any food would taste foul under such circumstances. I will nevertheless try to be objective and say that there are much better places for Lebanese food in Brussels (I like the takeaway on avenue des Celtes). The kefta (minced meat on skewer) was rubbery, the taboule was over-acidic, the house wine was a nauseatingly warm plonk. Not going back.More
