a very ancient place, with great history. an old auberge, once in the forest on the board on the road to Alsemberg, where travelers with their horses were taking a break for eating and drinking. the city developed and houses were built nearby, and today the building is located on a classic street, in the Forest area (commune) of Brussels.... If you are looking for a place with typical Belgian food, this is the place to be. Its also a nice little escape from the busy city centre. The waiters are really friendly. Great music and interior. And last but not least the food was really good, especially the vol au vent.

Maybe it's because we arrived quite late during the Sunday lunch service, maybe everyone was having a bad day but I cannot agree with a lot of the reviews posted here so must have been very unlucky indeed. In a nutshell, it's the first time I have ever had to send a saucepan of mussels back to the chef. Half... More

Looking for the real Belgian eating experience ? Then this is for you! The ambiance, service and food are just great. There is also a terrace outside on warm summer evenings!

Excellent bar/bistro with typical menu. The customer service is better then in other, similar places in Brussels. You can order food until pretty late (at least until 23:00) The choice of beers is very nice (Westmalle Double from the tap for 3 Euro!!) They also have a nice terrace at the back of the restaurant.

It was a fun place to eat, great service (frence), and a diverse menu with many special beers. The food itself was tasty and we paid an acceptable amount of money for it. In general, we are coming back!

Somewhat marooned on a busy road (not that we heard any noise inside), The Old Spiteful Devil has apparently been going since the 16th century. It's outside Brussels' central tourist area, so the clientele is mainly locals. The pub retains an attractive faintly rustic antique feel and on a rainy January Saturday was a cosy place for lunch. We enjoyed... More

Fed up by the touristic pubs and restaurants with international 'pizza margherita'? Willing to try one of the 150 beers of a well selected range, each with its typical glass? For a real Brussels atmosphere, try the 'Vieux Spijtigende Duivel', with its old-looking estaminet style and famous Belgian typical food. Moules frites (Aug-Dec) or raw meat 'Américain préparé' are always... More

Enjoyed eating here do much we ate here twice. The second time being better than the first. It'll be full of locals and the menu is in French, with only one waiter speaking English. To us this was part of the appeal - a place with authenticity and off the tourist map. The steaks are incredible and actually cooked to... More

They serve late at night. No booking needed, but you might have to wait for a table. It is a typical bistro. Affordable for all budgets, but keep in mind it is not a luxurious venue!!! Make sure you are not seated close to the door, as you'll have the draught on your neck all evening! Every person in need... More
