Spent a lot of time today in India and am happy to say the food at The Banyan Tree is as good as I've had. Excellent staff who take note of the level of your spice requirements. Really tasty and pretty good value. The converted barn is 'different' and the plates plain but forget that - well worth a visit!

We were really impressed by the Banyan, the food is freshly prepared and full of flavour. The mixed starters were incredibly moreish and the king prawn and lamb biryanis beautiful. We were able to discuss the heat we wanted with the owners ,who were very friendly and helpful,so got the strength that suited us.Very professional and full of interesting flavours.

My friend and I both eat in and have takeaways too. On this occasion we decided to have a takeaway. We were greeted at the door by a friendly member of staff who recognised and welcomed us in. We sat down at the takeaway end and ordered a drink each while we made our choices and were more than happy... More

Recommended by a neighbour as being very good and rather different! It was both, with menu items I hadn't seen before (a few Goan recipes) but every dish was perfectly cooked and with a wonderful array of flavours. The setting is a large converted barn, the atmosphere was warm and friendly and the staff excellent . This may not be the... More

OMG I LOVE this place! The food is so so SOO GOOD! The service is always great, polite attentive smiley waiters and the building is stunning. My favourite dish so far Murg Tikka Sizzling Platter.. that is some tasty chicken! Last visit we had the battered king prawns as a starter and I wanted to lick the plate it as... More

We went on a Friday night and had an excellent meal, far better than the average high street Indian restaurant, the service was excellent the food arrived hot and there was plenty of it, good selection of all dishes plus a vegatrian menu. We will return!

The kerela fish curry is alone worth the 40minute drive to get here! The paneer naan is possibly the best naan ive ever had and their battered prawns... i could eat about 50 portions of these per day. The food here is amazing, and super fresh! The service is also pretty good- theyre usually quite quick and also super friendly.... More

I very rarely will write more than one review of any restaurant but, having been to this establishment on a fairly regular basis, I feel that the quality of the food is slowly diminishing. We were a party of six last night. All the chicken dishes were really dry as were the rice portions. This place is becoming more and... More

Following reviews on TripAdvisor, we thought we'd try the Banyan after a long walk and a beer in the Kings Arms! The staff were very attentive, the food was brilliant and decent value for money (considering the area). It's cheaper up north! Would definitely return to Banyan again when we're next down in Surrey...

I've eaten a lot of chicken tikka but it was amazing here. The levels of flavour was immense. We had a sharing platter to start which was delicious. Service was very friendly and attentive. We live in Newcastle so a bit far to come back but if we are ever in the area again we will be back.
