The only place to dine in Neil's Harbor that I found was the Chowder House. Very unobtrusive sitting on edge of cliff over the ocean near a lighthouse. I went in for the chowder which was rich and chock full of all sorts of shellfish including lobster and fish. No heavy potato feel to it. A woman sitting near me... More

On our 3 week trip in eastern Canada we werr delighted with many great eateries but none that could compare to this restaurant- The Chowder House seafood. Our meals were delicious especially mine - seafood pasta. We compared all other meals out east to this and it could not be beaten. For the value and deliciousness you won't be able... More

Visited this restaurant 17 years ago, and thankfully not much had changed since that visit. We stopped here Sept this year for lunch and had the crab sandwich. What sells this sandwich is their generosity with the crab. My husband wished two things after we left...one..that he purchased another one for later..and two that we were close enough to have... We had met Lynn owner of Lynn's craft shop and gallery in Ingonish Beach on our flight to the Maritimes. We were driving past so we decided to stop in and say hello. Lynn suggested the Chowder House for lunch as we were going to be driving past there sightseeing. The time was right for lunch so we gave it... More

We stopped here for lunch. It's a bit rustic looking but the staff were friendly and the food was fresh and delicious. We weren't going to stop at first, but are so glad we did.

You would think a Chowder House would have great chowder – not so – it was really disappointing with not much seafood and not much flavor. In Advocate Harbour, I had chowder that was less expensive, yet full of seafood and full of flavor. Hubby had fried clam strips and fries for his dinner at the Chowder House. He thought... More

We enjoyed our visit to Chowder House. We initially selected this place on TripAdvisor, and were pleased we did. We found their seafood chowder (with large chunks of crab meat) and the steamed mussels in a light cream sauce to be the best of each we discovered during our vacation in Nova Scotia (and we tried a lot). Make sure... More

This time we got lucky & found the Chowder House open. As it was at the very end of the season, they were out of quite a few menu items but we still had enough to choose from. Service was excellent & the food lived up to it's great reputation. Just wished we lived much closer!

We happened on the Chowder House while driving the Cabot Trail. It's in a little fishing village, where we stopped to take a picture of the lighthouse next door. It was early but it was raining, so we decided to stop in and try their chowder. While we were enjoying some of the best chowder and mussels we had anywhere... More

We were having a look around at Neil's Harbour lighthouse, when we saw a ser ies of cars going towards what we thought was a slightly dilapidated building, called Chowder House. Feeling hungry we decided to take the risk and go have lunch, but a light one. We will never forget! Decided to just have a sandwich, we took one... More
