It was very quiet in the restaurant, however it was a Tuesday night. The staff were very friendly and took us straight to the table. No longer any bread on offer, that's a shame. Starters were as good as they've always been but much smaller portions. I had the chilli and salt squid, my friend the chicken parfait, again only... More

Our previous experience here was not great but this time all was forgiven and we had a great time. The food and wine was excellent and the attention and service from the manager was superb. Our only niggle was the lack of ambience in the restaurant. We were the only ones in there on a Friday night which was surprising.... More

Very nice pub, we just had drinks and (surprisingly good Kimbo) coffee. The staff was very friendly. Thanks!

I had high hopes for this Saturday night dinner but it wasn't worth the 40 mile round trip. Two of us chose calves liver but the portion was smaller than I expected and there was a serious lack of accompaniments. You can get away with not a lot of meat if you provide good amounts of veg and potato.Sadly not... More

Family Sunday lunch was brilliant. We were a party of 8 and the menu was so varied, it catered to all our tastes without being mundate. The chorizo and squid meatball starter was tasty and the main course of lamb shoulder was tender and very tasty. Overall a superb meal which every one enjoyed.

We went for Sunday Lunch which was very good lovely surroundings and excellent food. The roast beef was just perfect pink but not sliced too thin and plenty of vegetables. The menu had a good choice for Sunday lunch at £24.95 for three courses. The wine list had plenty to offer as well. We will definitely go back and try... More

Went tot he marquess last saturday night, amazing food, very helpful staff to my husbands requirements. Really great ingredients, simple but fantastic combinations, they definitely know what they are doing. How people can put negative reviews when they didnt event stay to eat. You get what you pay for, and this is quality.

We were staying at the hotel for a wedding. As a family we had booked 3 separate rooms in the hotel for a total of 7 nights. As a favour we asked if the Hotel woundn't mind organising a brunch for the wedding party the day of the wedding, which they agreed to. We were charged in the region of... More

I couldn't fault the attentiveness of the waiter, but the food was very expensive. £18.50 for the lamb dish, then vegetables had to be added at £2.75. It as well cooked, but not particularly well-presented, rather clumsy. The red-mullet main was a tiny piece of fish laid on a bed of 'salad.' Starters & desserts steeply priced also. The restaurant... More

Well done to all at the Marquess especially Gill (or Jill) and Brian for the amazing wedding reception. Food and accommodation was first class and the whole wedding party had a fantastic time. Highly recommend the Marquess of Exeter.

Thank Kathryn C
