Went once with the family. Having been given a menu to peruse in the bar area, we noticed how very expensive the limited menu was. The restaurant was quiet and lacked atmosphere. We left without ordering. Have since returned. We were the only ones in the restaurant and with no background music I felt uncomfortable and like I has to... More

We stopped off for sunday lunch and had a flawless roast dinner each. Beef cooked to perfection, huge yorkshire puddings and fresh local veg. The only down side was that we sat a little out of the way in the bar area and felt a little forgotten, at one point we had to go up to the bar and ask... More

Food was nice but took over 1 hour from ordering to eating, quite pricey for what you get. Drinks are reasonable price. Staff are slow at serving but friendly.

My wife phoned to book for a Sunday evening meal as the menu looked quite appealing. On arrival we were initially impressed with the pub although very quiet. On being seated we were shown the menu and were surprised to see it was all steak! When we queried, we were informed that we should have been told at the time of... More

Absolutely fantastic lunch staff were so good I called in the morning to book I was asked if I had any dietary requirements which I didn't but thought it was very good of them to ask, upon arrival we were served with drinks and taken to our table, I have to say the staff were amazing from start to finish,... Party of 4 of us went for dinner, mid week. Reception was warm, menu reasonably varied. We ordered two different items from main course menu. The Salmon and mussels proved a bit disappointing as of the 9 mussels on the plate, 3 did not open and 1 was empty. So we could only eat 5 out of 9. Now here's... More

For a mid week lunch we decided to try the Marquess of Exeter - we were not disappointed. Although quiet - the service was very good, the menu had a good selection with a set price 2 course lunch of £13.50 or £16 for a 3 course. The food was well presented and hot. We all enjoyed our meals and... More

We arranged to meet friends here for coffee as we were travelling to meet up to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant had set aside a room for us which was nice and we ordered coffee expecting to have a choice of cakes to accompany it. Unfortunately there was no choice, we were served some tasty shortbread and Bakewell tart. As... More

Had Sunday lunch here with some friends last week, the menu was limited to 5 or 6 main courses but the food was excellent quality and very nicely served. We look forward to going back there soon!
