Found this little gem on the off chance mid hiking and stopped for refreshments and decided to go back the following evening for an early dinner, hadn't booked but managed to sit in the bar, pie was delicious and the lamb shank looked good too - huge portions you don't need starters! Lovely little pub :-)

We visit here whenever we are in the area, always consistently good and dog friendly. We were quite early one Saturday night which was lucky for us as they were fully booked later in the evening. Food was excellent, I had the gnocchi which was really tasty. The rest of my family had the beef burger which they rated very... More

The pub has a big car park and is on the main road to Lynmouth. The interior is full of character, a lot of lovely exposed wood beams, fireplaces and all in all very cosy. The service was fast and efficient and the staff polite. The menu is typical for a pub with a good selection of specials, all at... More

Having lost faith in a recent visit to a neighbouring town my partner and I were apprehensive about our next meal out. Having been recommended to come to the Blue Ball we took it upon ourselves to go out. We were instantly welcomed into the pub and made to feel at home, the first thing that strikes you is that... Stayed at the neighbouring Bunkhouse with fellow runners (about 20 people) all using the this pub. When we arriived without even a 'hello' we were asked 'are you runners', don't park in our car park, move immediately....We spent over £300 in this pub on food and complained to the owner who then began shouting about parking and why should he... My husband and I and our dog called into the Inn for lunch last week while recreating Julia Bradbury's walk. We had a lovely welcome from the staff and the resident dogs and sat outside on the sunny terrace surrounded by gorgeous views. The food was delicious. I had Devon rarebit and salad which was very tasty and my husband... More

First visit for 3 years for the very dog friendly inn and I am glad to say it hasn't changed. We both had the burger and chips but it is best not to have this meal if you are counting calories.

Had lunch here today with family and couldn't fault it. Young lad working behind the bar is spot on, I made a passing comment when settling the bill about it being my mother's birthday yesterday, as she left he wished her happy birthday for the previous day. This made her day! Plus having a cosy table by the fire. Thank... More
