This is a great place for lunch when visiting the Basque Whaling Station. It s a large room that has a lovely homey atmosphere due to the warm and friendly service. The fish and chips were the best that we had during our two weeks in Newfoundland.

Although we only stopped for coffee and a snack we were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. A sign proclaimed 'World Famous Fish and Chips' but we had already had lunch which was a pity - I would have loved to have tried them.

My wife and I were traveling the Trans Labrador Highway and decided to check out Red Bay. We stopped at the Whalers Station to browse the gift shop and wound up eating lunch. I had the Cod fish and chips and my wife had the Harbour Soup. I have had fish and chips before but I NEVER have had fish... More

We really enjoyed our lunch here. Excellent fish cakes and fish and chips, prompt and very friendly service in a clean, comfortable restaurant. This is a great spot for those making their way to the Red Bay whaling station in southern Labrador.

I have to say Whalers Restaurant and Cottage had to be one of the highlights of our recent trip to Newfoundland and Labrador. At the end of the paved road about an hour's drive from the Labrador Ferry dock, the whole experience was magical. The museum and interpretive centre about the 16th century Basque fishermen was fascinating and extremely well... More

We were brought to this restaurant for lunch while on a short tour of Labrador which was part of the Viking Trail tour. By this time I had eaten fish and chips in many restaurants in Newfoundland and Labrador and had been impressed by them all with one exception. The batter on the fish here is a little thinner than... We ate at the Whalers Restaurant on our way north to Battle Harbour and again on our return south. Both times the service was great and the fish and chips were delicious. The fish was lightly battered and the chips were fresh and crispy. We also enjoyed partridge berry and bake apple pie. This is a wonderful place to stop... More
