Description: 'Selene' restaurant was established in 1986 in Fira, Santorini by Yiorgos...
'Selene' restaurant was established in 1986 in Fira, Santorini by Yiorgos and Evelyn Hatziyannakis. Our aim was from the very start, to show and promote the local products along with the local cuisine hoping that this will enable us to transmit to our guests a taste of the island's culture. The success that we have had all those years not only within Greece but also worldwide, has encouraged us to continue with cooking lessons, catering for weddings and conferences and various gastronomical events.

Since 2010 'Selene' restaurant has moved location from Fira to Pyrgos. Pyrgos is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved villages of Santorini built around a medieval castle located in one of the highest points of the island offering magnificent views. What is mostly important for us however is that Pyrgos village, and the restaurant's location especially, lies next to the famous vineyards and the valuable farmland of Santorini.

Worth a visit

Selene is definitely worth a visit, the quality of service and food are very good. They even convinced me to eat Octopus and I have to say it was wonderful. If you are ever going to give it a go Santorini is the place to do it, the seafood is so fresh.

We did the Cycladic cooking class at Selene. Wonderful experience with great staff and terrific food. Great to spend a few hours making a 4 course meal (and eating it), with plenty of wine and help from the owner, of course! Short walk from the bus stop in Pyrgos. Recommend for anyone looking for a unique, hands-on food experience!

Having been on a bit of a foodie adventure on Santorini, this place is by far the best gastronomy on the island. We chose to have a wide selection of the appetisers to share instead of main courses as they tempted the ability to sample the creativity of the kitchen. The fish platter was exceptional. Modern, confident and exploding with... More

This is a truly Gourmet experience for those with educated palates and fat wallets. Its staff is lovely and the presentation was very nice. I'm glad we did it for the experience , however , we preferred the traditional local food.

This is a very nice restaurant - our food was fantastic (both fish and duck were original and very well made) and the vine recommendation was very good - we actually visited winery the next day to buy some more. Nice and quite surroundings, very professional service.

Really good food at affordable prices. The ride to Pyrgos is definitely worth the effort. The Selene Meze & Wine is a lot cheaper than the fine dining experience that we did not try. Go for the Santorini salad, any main and the cinnamon ice cream with a greek pastry. Recommended wine will be excellent.

We had an excellent meal at Selene, and it turned out to be the last night that they are open for the season, so we were very lucky! All of the dishes were incredible and the staff were very passionate about the dishes and the wines that they recommended to us. Setting is gorgeous as well - we sat outside... More

Words cannot describe the food in SELENE. Great plates inspired by the Greek cuisine but far beyond. Beautiful views, professional service, excellent wines. Prices are high but worth the experience.

We went to the fine dining restaurant, which is a pretty room. The food has great potential, and always looks good, but was inconsistent. Maybe we were unlucky or maybe it was too late in the season. The amuse bouche of sea bass carpaccio was sublime and my wife's salad starter was rated the best she has ever had. Things... More

We went to Selene as a second choice because we couldn't find the place where we intended to eat, and Selene is now our first choice restaurant on the island. Since we arrived hungry at at 5 pm we ate downstairs in their Cafe and Delicatessen (their main dining room opens at 7 pm) and were served a first class... More
