Went there for an afternoon carvery, had a wonderful lunch, the food was fantastic and the service was excellent we didn't wait too long for anything. As it was a weekday there were plenty of tables available inside and out. Parking was plentiful and no need to worry about getting a space. We will definitely be visiting again.

Arrived for Sunday carvery. Waited 15 mins to be served. No one serving and a large queue. Asked for a refund and left. The manager was enthusiastic but the rest of the staff could try smiling and be a little less blunt. Screaming kids and crying babies. It was like herding cattle to a trough. Gonna give it a miss... On Thursday evening there was an open mic night at the Lord Louis. We thought we would give it a try and also decided to eat there as we arrived just after eight. We chose off the menu at the bar which was all fairly standard, pub food. I ordered gammon ham, egg and chips, my wife ordered chicken and... More

Not been to the Lord Louis for years so didn't know what to expect, 3 of us ate here everyone enjoyed the food, it was piping hot and the beef was just perfect. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The disabled toilets/baby changing area could do with a bit of a clean but then again if the public actually picked... More

Food here is nutritious and hot. Cooked to a good standard. And is typical of pub carvery meals. Staff are friendly and helpful

Bland doesn't even do it justice. The ''steamed veg'' are tasteless, roast New Potatoes that are not tasty and the portion of meat offered is parsimonious. Not wanting pork I was refused an extra slice of turkey or the dried out beef (which was, in fact, no loss) The gravy to compensate was watery and a disgrace. Adding insult to... More

I'm sorry your recent visit didn't live up to your expectations, however I do feel I need to address your comments. I apologise if you found our veg tasteless. It is, roast potatoes aside, all steam cooked to seal in the flavour. We do not use new potatoes. Our currrent variety in use are Madeleine potatoes. We monitor our carving... More
