The 'small plate' menu.....with the 'pie of the day' and mash is superb! This is a real, proper pie with sides and a bottom and not just stuffed in the microwave... and a little jug with the sauce / gravy so you can add it as you want. We added a side order of greens.... very nice..

We attended a birthday meal on a busy Saturday evening. We had pre-ordered our meals and congratulate the staff and chef on our superb steaks. We thoroughly enjoyed our whole evening and wouldn't hesitate in recommending this Inn for its excellent food and helpful staff, plus olde worlde surroundings

A friend and I went on the recommendation of another friend and we were not disappointed: decent real ale; great (upmarket) pub food menu (although my steak was medium rather than the medium rare that I asked for, but it was still delicious); lovely wine list; very good service; pleasant ambience. I shall return! Recommended by JP.

Went with friends for Sunday lunch had a lovely meal, service very good except that we asked for a couple more roast potatoes for the men of the table and was told that we would be charged for them, which left a sour taste as we have been many times before.

70th Party for 25 family & friends, first class service, attention to detail and most of all a very warm welcome. The food was all delivered at the same time with absolute passion and was cooked to perfection. The setting / atmosphere was just perfect for the occasion. Everyone of the party commented "A Little Gem". Thank you.

Went here for lunch with my loud family and puppy and thorough enjoyed ourselves. Food was delicious and plentiful and the organic lager on draft is banging. Perfect country pub in every way and cannot recommend highly enough.

Booked on the Saturday morning for an evening table and the restaurant were able to accommodate us at an earlier eating 6.45, which was perfect. On arriving at the bar, we were shown to our table in the very ambient restaurant. Bread rolls were homebaked, good start. The chicken livers I had for a starter melted in your mouth. My... More

Dear Bumblebee, It is very saddening to read this review and as you say, most unusual to most peoples experiences judging by the majority of very positive reviews we have for food, staff, atmosphere and ambience at The Holcombe Inn. Obviously we cannot get it right 100% of the time of which we are fully aware but my goodness we... More

We were two Couples meeting up for a midweek lunch. The Restaurant was quiet, so there were plenty of staff to look after us and we could not fault the service at all. We all enjoyed our food, my pie was delicious and while my wife considered her fish a little small, it was well cooked and delicious likewise. The... More
