My boyfriend and I recently went for a Saturday lunch and we were very pleased with the excellent menu and took some time to decide what to order as we were spoilt for choice. I finally decided on the gin cured smoked salmon which was searched with a side salad and a warm home made bread roll and my boyfriend... More

We have lived fairly near the Sandstone for some time but never visited, so my wife booked a table for a 7.30pm midweek dinner. On arrival a nose-ringed young woman told us that there was no record of our booking, but it did not matter as the restaurant was completely empty: never a good sign in my experience. We selected... I apologize for your less than adequate experience of the Sandstone. The young waitress that served you had only just started working for us and therefore had not been fully trained as of yet. The fact she was left un-attended on the bar is a fault of ours which is not normal practice and shouldn't have happened. We understand if... More

We visited the sandstone with our family because we don't see them much. Our orders were a little delayed to start because they were very busy, but excellent food and service. The lady serving looked a little flustered but lovely lady and fab personality, well worth the visit.

Visited here for tea on Saturday, such a lovely friendly place, very welcoming staff. However, the food was simply superb, even my children polished off the lot. This was high standard cooking, you get what you pay and the price is justified for the quality and taste. My wife enjoyed a superb bottle of New Zealand Sav Blanc which she... More

Called in for lunch , only two other tables occupied on a Saturday lunch at half one . Shown to a conservatory area , cold and smelt damp which is probably why the Windows were open. Dead clays on windowsill and bluebottles in the Windows , I had a glass of wine my partner had a strongholds cloudy cider. After... More

We cycled here for a week day lunch, arriving shortly after the pub opened for lunchtime. We were greeted by a friendly lady behind the bar who took our orders and was happy to bring our meals outside, where we were sitting enjoying the sunshine. The lunch time menu had a good choice of larger and smaller meals, as well... More

Had tea here tonight. I recommend the chicken breast, it has the best sauce I have ever tasted and the chicken just fell apart. Partner had the fish n chips, fish was hanging off the plate it was that large, home made chunky chips and tartar sauce accompanied the fish. Both meals have to be tried to know how tasty.... More

Called in here after a long walk, the (well behaved) dogs were welcomed with a bowl of water, and we had their local brew beer. I had a halloumi wrap with fries which was just right.

Just been for a run around the sandstone trail and we parked in the large car park, which we always do if we run from this area. After the run we always go in the pub and are always made welcome. We had a dog with us and the staff gave him water - we didn't have food but what... More
