We had travelled over from Liverpool to stay in the area and being a bit early we came across the Sandstone and decided to call in for lunch. We received a very warm welcome, all staff very friendly and we were so glad we came here as there was a great choice on the menu. We had rabbit canelloni, chowder,... More

Highly recommend The Sandstone. They catered amazingly for our party of 11 today. The food was superb, excellent menu choice and great wines and very good real ale. Family friendly, lovely inside and all in all a fantastic country pub.

Lovely Evening Meal enjoyed by my Wife and I with friends on cold wintery evening. Food enjoyable and cooked well. Waited a while for food to arrive but was worth it. Wine choice very good, all in all nice place to eat.

After visiting a nearby local attraction we wanted to stop somewhere for some lunch - from the outside doesn't look much but on the inside you are greeted with a warm welcome and the food and service is amazing - a unique menu I had rabbit cannelloni to start and they were more than helpful to help my husband who... Arrived cold , hungry and slightly grumpy after a long walk on The Sanstone Trail . The staff were warm and friendly and let us bring our dog in the bar area. We sat by the fire and looked at the menu , great choice and my vegetarian needs were well catered for . Our waiter told us that they... More

Restaurant was semi busy, we were greeted and shown to table, drinks order taken and served quickly, meal was order and waited about 20 mins for it to arrive, this is acceptable as it was a fresh meal, hot, well cooked food. We spoke with three members of staff who were all polite and friendly. We had hot drinks afterwards... More

Whilst enjoying a couple of nights away in a hotel near Broxton, we needed somewhere for an evening meal, so checked trip advisor and The Sandstone was nearby and highly recommended. We have two young boys who love trying new and different foods, so for starters we had Whitebait, Olives and Chicken wings. Main courses we had Spinach and Ricotta... More

My boyfriend and I recently went for a Saturday lunch and we were very pleased with the excellent menu and took some time to decide what to order as we were spoilt for choice. I finally decided on the gin cured smoked salmon which was searched with a side salad and a warm home made bread roll and my boyfriend... More

We have lived fairly near the Sandstone for some time but never visited, so my wife booked a table for a 7.30pm midweek dinner. On arrival a nose-ringed young woman told us that there was no record of our booking, but it did not matter as the restaurant was completely empty: never a good sign in my experience. We selected... I apologize for your less than adequate experience of the Sandstone. The young waitress that served you had only just started working for us and therefore had not been fully trained as of yet. The fact she was left un-attended on the bar is a fault of ours which is not normal practice and shouldn't have happened. We understand if... More
