We had another visit to the caravan park around the corner and spent most nights warming by the fire in this friendly local pub. A lovely Yorkshire welcome from John and Diane and all of the locals. Great local ales, great grub and hound friendly. Nothing much more to add than I've said in previous reviews, we'll keep going back.

We came to eat at this pub because we were staying at The Herons Pond campsite, which is only a short walk away. We were made very welcome and chose a seat in an alcove by the window, which gave us a lovely view of the village green. The food was good and vegetables and potatoes are served separately. The... Whilst passing through the village I made an unplanned visit to The Bay Horse, I had a drink and ordered a meal off what I must say was a remarkably exciting menu. I ordered a ham, Cheese and leak bake which came with a side salad and dressing, my meal came within 25 minutes and was exceptional, the food was... More

Situated on the village green is the Bay horse inn. We were on a walk with our two dogs and were made very welcome the beer was in superb condition and went down well with the single malt chasers. We had 2 Sunday rost dinners and they were excellent. We found out that some of the locals had stepped in... More

Yesterday I visited the Bay Horse in Crakehall, The atmosphere was very good, Sunday lunch was well received. Friendly locals and a mixture of tourists. A real community feel with a meat draw ,cricket on green, quoits and charity nights. Very good real ale. We understand that the landlord is currently in hospital and the bar was run by locals... Driving along from Bedale to Hawes, we cam upon this great pub. Stopped on the off chance and glad we did. Nothing special, but generously filled and interesting sandwiches. Well worth a diversion off the A1(M)

This is a wonderful village pub with very high standards. The furniture is always well polished. The beer pumps kept well to deliver perfect beer and the food is a delight to eat. The locals are very friendly and they play quoits just outside and cricket on the village green across the road.
