So, after a busy day at Hemsley in our way home to Whitby stopped of for supper. We all had a hot sandwich chips and salad. The food was good and lots of it. However the wine was poor ( and we said so) we were offered an alternative but had finished our meal and needed to get off home.... More

There were two couples here for a late lunch in May. Coolish but sunny day so the Lion Inn was a very welcome oasis on the Moors. Friendly, cosy place with lots of atmosphere - but watch your head on some low beams – and a great location on the moors. It was not too busy on this Wednesday. Nice... More

This is a charming pub isolated at the top of the moors. Our only complaint was the portion sizes. They could double their profits by serving more realistic plate sizes, we saw lots of unfinished meals getting carried back to the kitchen. Why not reduce the plate size and offer those who like gigantic portions the chance to 'go large'... More

Food was fantastic: great quality and plenty of it. The staff were very helpful when I hadn't worked out the free wifi password - DOH! Beer was good too. The pub is warm and welcoming inside with plenty of room for small and large groups. Dogs are welcomed in the pub area, and, there is a separate restaurant section with... More

This 900 year old inn is full of character, it has a good range of beers and the food is excellent although if there was one problem there is too much!! All round it's well worth the trip there and the views are stunning. The rooms are cosy and well appointed if staying overnight.

Wonderful location in the middle of nowhere. This is a lovely old pub/restaurant, with small rooms joining on to each other, good beer, open fires and low ceilings. We had a lovely half day here, relaxing on the C2C. There were lots of people enjoying the lovely weather, sitting outside, on bike rides or hiking. Our room was lovely and... More

We had the impression that the staff were not too interested. We booked a table for 6.30pm. Service was lamentably slow. The menu was dumped on our table We watched as staff drifted past our table, not obviously trained to be observant. Food arrived after one hour. There was far too much., and it was rather tasteless. The dwarf beans... More

This used to be the best place for miles but over the last few months standards have dropped. Todays lasagne was mediocre at best and not worth the money. We will not be back.
