This restaurant, tucked away behing the Grand Hotel Gozo, is definitely not what you'd expect when seeing it from the outside. When we stepped inside, we were greeted by the most amazingly modern and bright decor, beautiful photographs of Malta's sister island, a spiral chandelier and beautiful tables. We were served by a lovely lady who was very cordial. We were given complimentary garlic bread which was perfect and very pleasant My boyfriend opted for the traditional Ravioli while I chose the Suckling Pig. The portion was huge and it was one of the best Meat dishes I'd ever had. The crackling was crispy and charred, the meat was so tender and flavourful while the gravy was exquisite. It was garnished with a beautiful mushy pea puree and served with chips and salad. My boyfriend also enjoyed his ravioli. The sauce was spot on For dessert I had the Chocolate Fondant with Salted Caramel ice cream. The Fondant was good but nothing special. As for the ice cream, it was delicious. Price was well worth the quality and quantity of the food High class all round!

Popped in here for lunch on a Sunday when I was in the area. Good range of food, and some decent specials too. Had a very fresh caprese salad to start followed by pasta, which at the recommendation of the owner (the eponymous Philip) I ordered starter size, as he rightly pointed out that unless I was very hungry, I would struggle to finish. Dessert was apple pie with ice cream, the whole thing washed down with a half bottle of excellent local wine, which rather wonderfully had an image of a painting by a local artist on its label, the original of which was hanging behind me! The owner is very friendly and also lent me a book to read on said artist (Pawl Carbonaro). The price for this three course meal with wine and water came to less than €50, which is very reasonable. Would definitely come again.

I adored this place as soon as I walked in. It isn't decorated like your typical restaurant, either focusing on fishing or the use of local limestone so I appreciated the change. But more importantly, the quality of the food and the attention to flavours and details was outstanding. The owner Philip has over 30 years of experience and that's obvious by his passion and the plates served. My table looked in to the kitchen and I saw his oversight on every plate before it went to a table. As an example: the chili oil that comes with the garganelli: it's not so much about how much you want to put on but his advice to not overwhelm your tastebuds and lose the flavours. (Yep, salivating again!)

We were 8 people to celebrate my birthday and were totally disappointed by the food and service. My meat (taljata) was super well done, I ordered medium, was the first to arrive on a cold plate while the last guest who ordered pasta was served 40 minutes later. One pasta portion was super small. All food got cold and nobody dared come to ask us if there was anything wrong. At the end the owner came over and asked if we enjoyed, where we complained and he offered another steak (at 10.30pm) when everyone was already done a ready to go. He said he was going to have a work with his staff and gave us a bottle of wine on the house. Definitely I will not recommend if you are expecting fine dining and a good.service.

I’m sorry i cannot give a zero. My order was forgotton - I was the only one without food and waited 45 minutes before they noticed. To add insult to injury, we were regularly charged for our meal and not even offered a discount or another free meal. The host must have been very sad to have invited a dear friend who remained hungry. Terrible experience.

We booked a table for 3 for dinner. As our table was near the window door there was a problem and so we tried to stop a waiter to help us...but they were all to busy so we managed ourselves. Thats when the owner himself came and started yelling at us without even try to understand why we did .... If it was for me we should have stood up and left!! But my friends were hungry so we stayed. We had to wait nearly 1 hour before the starters arrived! The waiter was unfriendly and when told that he had brouhgt us the wrong water (fizzi instead of still water) he took it away and never came back with the correct one. The invoice for the dinner was far to expensive for the quality of the food and for the really poor and arrogant service. NEVER AGAIN!!!

From the facade, no one would imagine the inside of this restaurant. First of all it has 2 levels and a wine cellar in the basement while the decor is modern and elegant. The service is very cordial and the food is divine and the portions are abundant. Will definitely return to this gem.

Philip has been in catering all his life and it shows. The menu offers hearty uncomplicated and unaltered traditional food with the best of the seasonal ingredients. Fab cellar and wine list. Sometimes we tire of the fancy presentations, gimicks, plates and cutlery etc and all we want is a grerat grandmother type of meal cooked by the nephew. The dishes are genuine and plentiful. Make sure you go hungry. Furthermore its the cheapest versus value in the whole isalnd of Gozo. Philip is a character too and we recommend you make freinds with him. Enjoy. One of our favourites. Twice a month at least a must.

We had an absolutely incredible meal here. Not fine dining but really, really good food taken to a whole new level. My husband had calamari to start with which he said was delicious and the I had the ribs for a main course and my husband had the lasagne. Both were enormous portions cooked isi g a wood fired stove and absolutely delicious. I would go as far as to say the ribs were the best I’ve ever had. We had a delicious bottle of local wine and the bill was (by englands standards) very reasonable. Would highly recommend.

The perfect dinner for two in a great ambience . Relaxed . Started my meal with a cold fish platter and salad followed by catch of the day salad and roast potatoes . Andy had deep fried Brie followed by started ravioli filled with goats cheese. Complimentary bread goats cheese and the freshest ever salad . Double jamesons and ice finished the dinner with a warmed up brandy . The chef is brilliant and the fish was cooked to perfection. The service us very personal.

Good food but terrible service. Spent over an hour waiting for our food despite having ordered before most of the other tables. When we politely approached the owner to enquire about this, he simply dismissed our complaint and merely indicated that food was going to be served shortly. Unfortunately entire service lacked quality and we were treated as just a number.

This restaurant is one of a kind. The menu offers a lot of variety including fish as well as traditional food cooked in wood burning oven (traditional cooking). The food was top class. The host was really jolly and made the experience even more enjoyable. The staff was really nice as well. Highly recommended!

Good food and the ambience is clean and nice. Would have given 5 points if not of little shortcomings which I hope that the management will sort. Aircondition is not switched on in August and several items on the menu were not available. But the food was very good and I would visit again.

Visited this restaurant twice over the last week . Had the antipasto to start with a sharing plate of Gozo cheese olives and different types of meat like braisola and like Parma ham stuff . Then had the spaghetti rabbit a local food of Gozo . Followed by the Maltese gelato 🍨 ice cream then when went back I had the ta Phillip pasta special Gargnelli which was so good . Short walk if staying in the grand hotel over looking Mgarr harbour . Lots to chose from and there’s also a specials menu board too and the desserts are on another board to chose from .

Subterranean!!!! The room is too cold, there is no service, the food is inedible. One "waiter" is constantly itching! One "assistant waiter" has his fingers in his nose and the other, well, so-so. The food, just the side dish = salad, was fresh, but without seasoning/dressing. Potatoes sweet and onions, vegetables overcooked and burnt. Spareribs with ready-made sauce and the fish without any taste. So far we have been impressed by the hospitality and the good cuisine of Gozo!
