3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We had good expectations for dinner - the menu looked appealing, but unfortunately, the delivery was average. The food seemed just heated up pre-prepared dinner - children's chicken nuggets, chips and beans, were adequate, the pasta and sauce - ladle of sauce on a large bowl of pasta-slightly dried out, and the pie was average. Service fast, and staff were... More

We had a large family meal at the Port of Call last week. The food was freshly cooked and of a very high standard. The staff were friendly and keen to make our visit as pleasant as possible. The service was excellent. The pub/restaurant was lovely inside and spotlessly clean. At the end of the evening the chef entertained us... More

Great friendly service, the new owners are lovely & went the extra mile with making sure our family, especially my 5 year old son! were made to feel welcome! My children and I arrived late in Newquay - all famished and tired - and received a very warm welcome at the Port of Call. We ordered fairly simple meals which arrived promptly and were of very good quality, well presented and really tasty! Excellent value for money too. We will definitely return. Thank you once again for looking after... More

Just had our third meal here as we were so impressed with the first two visits. Think it is under new ownership this year and it's obviously going very well as the food is superb and you need to book as all tables were reserved. The staff are all lovely and for sure we will be back :-)

Very disappointed to visit a restaurant that serves frozen processed food, and admits to it. I ordered fish & chips, which when arrived was supermarket freezer quality. My daughter ordered chicken goujons which were hard processed, reheated and not edible. My partner order dressed crab which came not dressed - dry tasteless crab meat (packet quality, not fresh) in a... More

Hi tomail33 and thank you for taking the time to write us a review. As the owner of the Port of Call (Mel) I would like to address your scathing comments: I find your comments slanderous that the restaurant admits to serving processed and frozen food. The fish is not on our menu with any reference to it being made... More

Stumbled upon Port of Call following a tiring walk on the coastal path. For some reason there were few customers, but the decor was fresh and tasteful, the greeting and service bright and genuine and the food first class, cooked fresh to order and reasonably priced. I had a bottle of beer, but only after eating did I spot they... More

Description
Welcome to the Port of Call. I have been reliably informed that this was the 3rd house to be built in New Quay. Nestled between traditional stone built houses and shops this characterful place always offers a warm welcome. Home prepared/cooked food and fresh locally produced ingredients offer you the taste of West Wales. Take a boat trip to see the dolphins playing in the Bay or just sit and have a glass of something cold while watching the sea from our terrace.
