Have eaten breakfast only - and some might think £10 expensive - but to sit out in the sun - with a harbour view - and enjoy the very best trad breakfast (all waitress service too) - can't be beaten.

Great location on the quayside. Small family run restaurant specialising in fish dishes, which they do very, very well. Halibut was excellent, as was wife's sea bass. Son (who is a chef) had a steak, cooked rare (properly rare which you don't always get), which was one of the best he'd had. Couple of tips: You need to book Ask... More

Take a bow the nicest most friendliest place in New Quay. Lunch or dinner, both are fab! We were here on a few occasions on our stay and gorgeous every time!!!

After seeing a couple of bottlenose dolphins swimming in the bay, we decided to get some Sunday lunch before our journey home. The lunch itself was tasty, homely food. However after ordering dessert at the beginning of the meal we were so full from the large portions that we asked to take our crumble home. After we'd paid for the... More

Thank you for your review and we are glad that you enjoyed your lunch and so obviously we are disappointed that you left feeling that you had been overcharged. I am responding so that I can clarify the situation. I have spoken to the waitress that served you and also have a copy of your bill. It seems you initially... More

On an unplanned one-night stay in New Quay, we were lucky enough to find a room at the Hungry Trout and had the good sense to eat there too. It's a delightful little restaurant with a very good choice of dishes including seafood, meat and vegetarian. I think it has the reputation of being the best fish restaurant in this... More

A great resto in Newquay, ideal after watching dolphins on a hot summer's day. Good fish including salmon, home made fish cakes and jacket potatoes.

My Mom and I recently enjoyed a stay in New Quay and The Hungry Trout had come highly recommended to us. We gave it a try and are so thankful that we did. It did not fail to impress! We had a low-key yet elegant outdoor meal overlooking the water and enjoyed everything from local mussels and diver scallops to... More

The Hungry Trout is a great example of coast dining. The venue isnt snotty, but offers a quality of food often reserved for haute cuisine. If its been caught you can have it and if it hasnt you cant and thats whats 'great' about it.. menu has the standard fair you dont really come here to have (steak, ribs etc... More

We had a lovely evening in the Hungry Trout! They fitted us in even though they were extremely busy & even offered us a table inside rather than the outside one we initially had. The food was delicious but the ambience even better! The place was buzzing! The chef had the evening off for her dad's birthday & they shared... More
