Bar Bruis calls itself a (re)cycle bar by which they mean that they are bicycle- friendly and most of their furniture is on sale... They are much more than that, however. They serve a large variety of drinks incl. homemade lemonades, Pukka teas and a...selection of local beers (e.g. from nearby Flurk brewery) or the famous Tripel Carmeliet (draught! Not from a bottle.) as well as excellent coffees (Rom coffee). They serve a variety of snacks, salads, meals and tapas as well as ice cream and homemade pastries. The carrot cake is delicous and so is the café glacé (vanilla ice cream from sheep milk and espresso). The food is locally-sourced and the portion size excellent. This place is ideally located in the Visitors' Centre of Natuurpunt (local nature preservation and information centre) whose volunteeers are often available to provide information and hand out free maps for nearby walks etc. Kids will enjoy the visitors' centre, the outdoor area to play in or the toys inside. The place welcomes dogs and horses... Dogs are allowed inside and given water and the horses have their own paddock. I believe they have an upstairs area for approx. 45 people which can be rented for group activities such as seminars. They have hosted company activities and parties etc. Very friendly, multilingual staff. Free Wifi. Cash or card payments. Indoor and outdoor seating. Big baby changing station and high chairs. You can even shower at the place. They sell nice gifts and trinkets, many with a nature theme. (They follow the corona guidelines from the Belgian government. The menu is written on big chalkboards, hand sanitizer is provided everywhere, staff wear mouthmasks, clients are asked to register etc.)More
