A very pleasant experience

My husband and I, visiting Merano for a few days, had dinner at this restaurant, chosen after visiting their website. It was a very positive experience: the location is enchanting, from the room you can enjoy a wonderful view of Merano. The restaurant is elegant and has a very pleasant outdoor space for the summer. The menu is varied, with local cuisine dishes interpreted with elegance. My husband chose an asparagus cream and, to follow, the pork ribs (they weren't on the menu, but they were kind enough to prepare them anyway). I chose dumplings in broth (exquisite) and a Milanese cutlet (very good). The service was courteous and very professional. We will definitely return. Highly recommended.

Unstable weather, “superfine” cuisine

The day didn't promise much, but when we arrived at the restaurant the mood changed thanks to the stupendous view of Merano and the slopes below. In the restaurant the large and exquisite combination of seasonal fruits of the earth offers everything that the "gourmet" expects: from meat to vegetables, from bread to wines, not forgetting the excellent desserts. Good value for money. If then, to digest you want to take a walk in the midst of nature, it is best to walk along the Algundo Waalweg, among orchards, centuries-old chestnut groves and vineyards, towards Castel Tirolo. There are also some more unusual dishes (e.g. risotto with garden herbs, apple and burata or trout tartare as a starter), but also a fantastic Wiener schnitzel with wafer-thin, crispy fried potatoes. The desserts are also recommended. All dishes are very attractively presented and have a modern style. For me, the best restaurant in Algund. The only problem is the parking situation. Oh yes,...not to forget the fantastic view you have when you sit on the covered terrace at the front. I would be happy to go back anytime.

The restaurant has an excellent location with a view of the Etsch Valley above Merano, 5 points for that. The lamb dish was ordered medium, it was bleeding red on the inside and cooked through on the outside. The price is in the upper segment. For me, the price did not match the service.

Unfortunately not quite met expectations

The food was OK, but my spare ribs were unfortunately much too dry. There was only one Zweigelt (Dolomites) on the menu....the service started to clear the table for the next day while we were still having dessert - made it very uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Unfortunately, the warmth was not really there. What was good was... "the three things".

Very pleasant discovery. Tried it at lunch. Beautiful location and great food. I tried typical dishes and they were great. Very nice and helpful staff who asked several times how the lunch was going. I will definitely return.

Perfect spot for a little rest...

...almost at the end of the "Waalweg", Serves typical local food, i.e Strudel, fruit tarts as well as snacks, different coffees and beverages. From the terrace one can enjoy a panoramic view across the vinyards into the nearby mountains.

Worthwhile walking the Waal!

From Meran drive near Algund, park the car and walk about 15 minutes towards this beautiful quite modern restaurant which has a great view. We were seated at a long wooden table (we were 8 persons) on the large terrace and were immediately greeted by the young junior chef who is already a perfect host.We tried different dishes (all excellent) and of course discovered a few local white and red wines. A perfect dinner, great atmosphere, a place to remember.

Great views and great food

This resto is located in the hills above Algund. Great outside terrace. Inside is divided in a modern extension and the original house. Parking about 100 meters in front. Friendly reception and service. Food and wines are good! Well prepared and all with regional ingredients. Go here!

Lovely location, nice terrace and/or confortable “Stube”. The food is tasty, beautifully presented and typically local. A great base to start a walk and enjoy the wonderful surroundings.

Best Food in Suedtirol

We have been trying to dine here since our last visit, so pleased to get a table - the best steak I have had in years and I am from the US! AND my husband is a butcher and chef! Really great menu, regional specialties, delicious desserts, friendly and professional service, terrific atmosphere, we ate here 3x in a single week we were so pleased.
