This is probably one or the dying breeds of old French restaurants that you have to experience at least once . This is where the French workers go to eat ( plus tourists these days ) at Lunchtime . It is a set 3 course menu , includes wine and coffee and costs € 11.50 and the wine is good... More

I visited this restaurant with about a dozen other tourists all staying at the Beau Rivage Camp Site. Well - I've never experienced anything like it in my life! There is no choice on the 11 euro menu, you just get what you're given, but you are given a great deal for your money. Todays dinner consisted of a big... More

I am happy to report all the previous comments still hold true. We visited last night based upon local recommendations, no booking required. Its still 5 courses, water, bread and wine for 11€. You have no choices but the fresh vegetable soup and pork chop with fries were excellent. Service was equally 'unique' with no attempt at ceremony. We loved... More

There is nothing more to say other than you MUST go to Bernadettes if you're in Navarrenx...an experience like no other and if youre lucky (and you have room after the first 4 courses) they'll be a cornetto for pudding :)

all the reviews are true... authentic, eccentric but totally good value for 11 euros. You wont be hungry after. Very no frills, and no choice (except main course which was either chickn, pork or steak). We had: homemade vegetable soup, sausage and beetroot, chicken/frites, choice of ice creams/flans, bottle of wine (Rose very good)... coffee not great but this is... More

11 Euros for a set menu of five courses, plus bread, wine, water and coffee. Home produced genuine freshly cooked food. No choice, no vegetarian option but as previous reviews have said a great experience of rural France. Not many of these places left, and it's for sale. Enjoy it while you can.

The food is largely traditional to the area and is freshly cooked. Superb cuisine, varied menu and reasonable wine prices. Prices could be higher for all that is available. Super service.

What a fantastic place, dining with a difference and with the pilgrims. There is no choice but the food is amazing, don't advise you to eat during the day as you won't get through it all. Looking forward to going again next year!

I love this place. You just plonk yourself down at the table and it all happens! There is no menu, no choice, the food just comes. The place is run by a wonderful lady who does everything: peels the potatoes, cooks and serves, however the formula is so simple that she can manage it all. The table is pre-laid with... More
