A wonderful backstreet pub, with great staff, fun locals, and yummy food. There’s plenty of beers to choose from & other drinks too. If you like footy, this is the pub for you. It’s a great place!

I went there with my friend. Good service. Food is ok. It is very easy to get there. I have been a customer for this place since 2000.

came here on a Sunday afternoon pub crawl. Sunday lunches being served, outdoor area crowded, dogs, childdren etc. Loud music indoors and not particularly comfortable. Reasonable beer offering, prices seemed higher than usual for the area but that might just be me. Just stayed for...More

1880s pub that has had a modern fitout and still retains character of a pub. Came here on Australia Day for lunch and was sensationally impressed. Cosy venue for lunch then moved over to the bar for a few beers and had a look around....More

The Rose had a recent refit that many were worried about. It was just a plain old classic local pub. But, nothing to worry about here. The open plan is much better! Love it, and it's still a classic local.

Look it's comfortable and the food's OK. There is a great collection of beers and wines, so it's not a bad place to hang with friend or to watch the footie.

This one was tough to review. We had been going to the Rose for some 15 years, so clearly loved the old atmosphere, but to be frank the last few years leading up to the reno it started to drop in our eyes in terms...More

Devastated. Hadn't been to the Rose in two years because moved interstate. Sped through traffic to get there on time for the Sydney GWS game only to be met by wall of hipsters and otherwise empty shell. What a great pub this used to be....More

The Rose has recently been renovated and is now an open plan bar. That's good for management as it fits in more patrons however it's lost a little ambience. It has a cold feel now the carpet is gone and it's noisy, even though they...More

The Rose used to be a Fitzroy institution. A proper back-street Fitzroy pub. It was recently remodelled into what looks like a generic, soulless bistro masquerading as a pub, with the same boring line-up of standard beers. Went there to check it out since the...More

Fitzroy is an unusual blend of working class roots,
hip gentrification, and a robust bohemian work ethic.
Along Brunswick Street and its side streets, you'll

furniture designers display their wares. There are
specialist bookshops, funky record bars, and quality
vintage clothing shops where browsing is the next best
thing to buying. Gertrude Street is famous for its
