Very accommodating - allowed us in before his opening time (we were passing through) and gave us an off-menu Thali dish when we said we were veggie ; which was good as any we had eaten in the Indian hotspots of Tooting or Hounslow.

Read mostly good reviews about the restaurant and looked forward to our visit. There were three of us in the party. Whilst the food was indeed very good, well cooked and nicely presented, the owner's attitude was off putting to say the least. Being a cook myself, when I asked about a dish on the menu, he came over as... More

We are surprised and disappointed at your review of the bistro. Despite the restaurant being “clean and comfortable” and the food being “lovely”, “well presented” and “very good” , you saw fit to deem us ‘poor’ with only two stars. We remember your party well, mostly by your many and varied questions about every dish on the menu whilst pointing... More

We did our usual trick of finding the best restaurant around on our last night and the Crannag is certainly the best restaurant for many miles. We were greeted by the owner who took us through the menu, advising and providing interesting information along the way. I had the belly pork with a delicious rhubarb chutney for starters and my... Thank you so much for your kind review. It is always a pleasure to serve lovely people who are interested in their food. I will send you the recipe for our rhubarb and chilli relish once we have the brown envelope. Hope to see you again soon on your next visit north! More

After two recent meals there I feel sad that I had not made the journey from Dornoch to Bonar Bridge several years ago. It took a recommendation from an American friend visiting to correct that omission. On our first visit with two friends we ate off the menu and were amazed at the quality of the dishes which were so... More

Thank you for your brilliant review! We would love to see more people from Dornoch - the drive through Spinningdale to Bonar is one of the most scenic in the north. We are so pleased you enjoyed your Thali and look forward to seeing you again when you get that curry craving! More

This is the first time I felt I needed to go and make a review. Perfect food. Loved every second of it. If you're passing near by, this place is certainly worth a visit. The owner made great recommendations on beer and was able to guide us on the menu. I would recommend the cheese soufflé and the pork belly... More

What's not to like?? This place isn't exactly cheap, but then it's hardly overpriced for what you get: superb, interesting food, in a fine environment, with a host that's clearly totally passionate about both their food and wines (and great fun to boot). I'm kinda into my food and wine and would go here again at the drop of a... More

Visited this restaurant twice during our recent holiday. Ian made us feel very welcome, great host. Food was second to none; great taste, great quality. The food is fresh and locally sourced. Great friendly atmosphere, felt very relaxed. Returned the second night to experience one of Ian's bespoke curry meals- fantastic!! If we are ever up that way again we... More

The owner Ian was very friendly and hospitable. The food was wonderful starting with the souffle with chilli cream followed by the lamb rump. My husband and I thought it was some of the best lamb we have had.

I attended this bistro for a family anniversary, so it was a private function. The food was absolutely beautiful. Of course, due to the large number of guests, the menu had to be limited but I thoroughly enjoyed all courses. The host was attentive and we were made to feel so welcome and at home. The children ate at a... More

A very friendly restaurant serving good food and wine. Using lots of local produce. I can recommend the cheese soufflé. The scallops are juicy and tender. All the dishes are good. If you like curries Ian serves a most excellent and authentic thali but you have to order in advance. During the summer months the Crannag is now serving afternoon... More
