We were 24 Golfers celebrating a 50th Birthday and were seated in an area that could have been segregated from other diners. Yet the owner seated two other families in the same area. There was confusion as to who had ordered what and a few...More

I want to mark the dolphin higher, but there were a couple of things that I thought they were poor at so only average this time I am afraid! Whilst it is great that the dolphin uses the best ingredients and prides itself on food...More

We stayed in Thorpeness for the week and visited the Dolphin several times, staying for dinner on the final visit. It's a building with an interesting history, having been rebuilt after a fire in the 1990s so looks quite modern but with regional character. There...More

We went there on a busy Saturday night, we hadn't booked, but they said we could eat outside. There was a good menu, and we didn't have to wait long for our food, which was very good. We went there another night for a drink,...More

A beautifully appointed pub with a lovely garden overlooking the water. Can't comment on the food as only had drinks. The barman was friendly and pleasant, the sun was shining and the surroundings were great. Did look at the menu and it did look interesting...More

I am hoping this was a one off as previously we had eaten at the Dolphin and it had been better. When walked in it was quite some time before the barman looked at us, he could have said be with you in a moment...More

The Dolphin, now the hub of the community, is an ideal resting base to explore Thorpeness and our neighbouring towns Aldeburgh and Southwold, or just enjoy a peaceful walk around Snape Maltings and RSPB Minsmere reserve plus many more local must sees. A short stroll takes you to miles of unspoilt Suffolk Heritage coast and the very popular Mear, a boating lake which is on our doorstep and just up the road - The House in the Clouds. The Head chef is passionate about local produce and the kitchen not only creates a daily changing menu for the restaurant using some of the best local producers but makes and supplies Thorpeness Village store, attached to the Dolphin Inn, with chutneys, jams, pies and pastries. As a free house the bar dispenses award winning real ales all sourced locally from independent producers including Adnams, Brandon brewery and Woodfords. We have developed an excellent wine list with wines sourced from some of the best cellars around the world featuring alongside a large selection of bourbons, single malts and port. A roaring log fire in the winter, a huge garden with barbecues in the summer and well appointed four star en-suite bedrooms, this is a genuine pub where you can expect great food and great beer served in a warm friendly environment.
