Beautiful place and so romantic. Rooms were not top notch but comfortable and cosy. I enjoyed snuggling up to my hubby. Food was on point and so was the welcome and hospitality of the staff. Had a lovely 44th birthday in a special place with a special person it was just perfect.

We stayed for two nights and wished it had been more!! The owners and staff were very friendly, the food was home cooked and a full English breakfast was the best. Will definitely return if we get the chance.

Six of us stopped here for lunch. What a delight. Traditional old pub with a great menu, so great it was difficult to decide what to have! For starters we chose a meze board and a charcuterie board to share between us. Super selection and plenty for sharing. Staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. I'd definitely advise to book... More

Spent great couple of nights here at end august. Food is very good, great range of foods, also good selection of ales, both real and bottled. Service also good attentive, without being intrusive. Breakfast great too, all in all good honest pub grub at fair price. Rooms are adequate, but very handy and on ground level.

Not being local, was no problem, made to feel welcome and looked after. Great food so wasn't the cheapest, but it had quality. Very impressed and would call again if in the area. Also a very nice thatched roof pub which was very unique.

We visited here last night - warm welcome And nice setting. Food was good, although on the pricey side for what it was in my opinion. Everyone else's came out before mine and was told mine was delayed... Something I normally would have just let go - however took issue with the mandatory 10% service charge added onto the bill... After a long day on the road we wanted somewhere close to the A505 & found The John Barleycorn on TripAdvisor. Was very impressed, good service and a very tasty pie of the day. We were in and out in no time but I am sure everyone else was having a very relaxed evening. I would highly recommend for anyone... More
