Beautiful setting

Just down the road from Trogon Lodge in San Gerardo de Dota, this little place is just lovely. Well prepared food. You won't be disappointed.

We ate at 3 restaurants in San Gerardo de Dota (including our lodge restaurant), and Cafe Kahawa was unquestionably the best. People told us "It's just a sandwich place," but that's not true. There was a range of entrees, all of them excellent. The trout in cocoanut sauce was particularly outstanding. Be sure to try the fish tacos, too. The... More

Once we discovered this little gem along side the Sevegre River, we were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful fresh food and surroundings. Evelyn, the manager was extremely sweet and kind. They are open for breakfast lunch and early dinner. We wish we had found them earlier and will be back for sure next time we stay at Trogon Lodge.

We ate outside near a clear stream, had excellent food and service. I had trout with coconut sauce which was so good that we returned the next day and had the same dish!

The trout was excellent at a reasonable price with great vegetables grown themselves in their greenhouse. We could sit outside or under the open air roof if it rained.

Not an extraordinary place but it's ok for a quick lunch. It's clean but lack a little bit of charm. The service is fair and rapid.

Everything was delicious. Our favorite were the "chicharrones de trucha" (basket of fried pieces of trout). Their fruit juices were great, particularly their tamarindo with cinnamon. Kids enjoyed the pasta with trout.

Delicious trout with coconut sauce. (twice) My son had the pasta dinner with trout and my husband enjoyed the fish and chips style trout. It was all fantastic and great value. Good service! Beautiful place and location. Quiet, peaceful and magical. It reminded me of "Rivendell" or Switzerland. We had dinner here once and liked it so much we came... More

This cafe has the most amazing setting in a woodland glade with a tumbling river. Service was charming and the food was good.
