We heard about Lola's on a Costa Rica Facebook page. We walked from the JW Marriott - twice. Soooo worth it. The atmosphere is lovely. And the food is fabulous Both times we ordered the fish & chips. One of the best we've ever had....I had the frozen drinks. The mango drink and then a piña colada. Both were good, but not super strong. During the first visit, there were local vendors, which was nice. BE sure to check Lola's website; Google has them closing earlier than they do. Saw a mama and baby howler monkey on the second visit.More

Not sure why all the hype about this spot? There are many way better beachfront spots in Tamarindo. It was $100 for four meals and four drinks. High prices, average food. Nothing was awful, but service was not great. Not a safe beach for kids...to be in the water but they can play in the sand and small tide pools.More

There’s few things better than great beachside food and cold refreshing beverages with friends and family after a long, hot perfect day in the sun. Lola’s, located directly on Playa Avellanas, not only offered an incredible setting, but wonderful menu offerings brilliantly executed, with a...friendly, efficient, informative staff - all with large portions at more than reasonable pricing. Perfectly curated music, at a volume designed to enhance ambiance and atmosphere but not overwhelm both the natural backdrop and conversations, is a great touch. Of special note from the menu offerings, the Ahi Tuna Poké appetizer (with a portion size definitely meant for sharing - and a quick heads up - though ordered as an api this dish was last to arrive… but well, well worth it), any of the various wood-fired ultra-thin crust artisanal pizzas, and the beer-battered fish and chips (unbelievable), though there is a depth and breadth of menu options to please even the pickiest palates with numerous vegan and gluten-free options. Highly recommended.More

Great day by the beach! Great food, friendly staff, beautiful place. The road now much nicer than a few years ago so less of an adventure getting there but less stress!

Long rough and dirt road to get there but worth every pot hole. Lola the Pig no longer graces this beach club but the surfer laid back vibe endures. Excellent food nachos, pizza, tacos and many mixed drinks make this place a must go retreat....Great body surfing and surfing spot or if you do not partake kick back and watch the 6:00 sunset.More

Lola’s is EXACTLY what you imagine when you think of the perfect beach surf spot! Great music as you enter a tropical paradise of palm trees, white sand and blue ocean. Greeted by smiling locals and ice cold margaritas, followed by the most delicious fish...tacos and ceviche. I wish we found it sooner because we would have gone back many more times. I got to literally “hang” out in their hammocks while my boyfriend caught wave after perfect wave! I miss it already!More

Lola’s is another must do. If you want a beach chair, they’ve got it, if you want to surf it’s there next and if you just want to stop and grab a drink and a bite to eat, you can’t go wrong. Such a great...vibe and love their story!More

A really beautiful spot to have some lunch and watch the sea. It’s not a great drive to get there but totally worth it. Beautiful wooden tables and chairs in the shade. Good service. Food is ok but you are going there for the view...on a really stunning beach.More

We were told to come here by a woman we met on a tour in La Fortuna. She was not wrong! My son played in the waves as the sun was setting, the food was very good and came out fast and hot. I wish...we could have stayed longer !More

Overall pretty good. Truly enjoyed the calamari. Service was slow. Sunset views were really good. Probably will go back on next visit.

Came here for lunch after a wonderful time on the beach and sea. You get the menu online which was a bit of a hassle, since nobody told us. After20 minutes of waiting we finally sussed it out and ordered some beers and 2 starters...- ceviche and chicken satay. The r quality and quantity was good and the location wonderful - on the beach. The overall cost was high for a starter and 2 drinks each it came to $22 each, which is expensive. The location and ambience keep it at 4 stars.More

Our whole family LOVED Lola’s and Playa Avellana! I highly recommend making a reservation for their beach chairs in the morning and a table for lunch in the afternoon so you can spend the entire day here. AND I would recommend you go early in...your vacation so you can spend another day here later! It’s hard to say if the food, service or ambience was better, because it was all excellent!! Kids loved the pizzas and chicken nuggets with Dutch fries (one of the owners is Dutch!) I devoured my shrimp tacos, and my wife said she had the best salad of her life. Everything was so fresh and delicious and huge portions. Our waiter was delightful and we stayed ALL day, right through the sunset!More

The all wood tables and chairs with sun shades and a beach front view is ever so inviting. When we first looked at the menu it seemed a bit expensive until we were served. The healthy portions account for the costs. I had the seared...tuna salad and it was perfectly seared with lots of greens. My partner had the fish tacos and it was enough that I didn’t give him anything from my plate. We also got the calamari which was fresh with a nice light crisp topping. The passion fruit smoothies came in a 16 ounce glass and quenched our thirst. The sweetness was dessert enough. A great lunch spot ! We stumbled upon this place as the one next door wasn’t open and we’re glad.More
