There were 3 of us and we had two sun beds and a chair. Once we ate our v nice lunch the bill showed 10:50 euros for sun beds yet we only had 2 (cost 3:50 euros each). When we challenged this the owner said if 3 of you on the beach then 3 of you pay - not good and this is from someone who loves Crete and has been travelling here for over 15 years 😞

Beautifully situated traditional Greek taverna right on the beach. Spotlessly clean and wonderfully friendly. We were a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids), the food and service was great. Fresh BBQ food including Sea Bass, octopus and meats, as well as plenty of other options. We will be going back next week!

Located down the end of a narrow track this taverna sits right on the edge of the beach. For 4 euros a day per person you get use of their sun beds, changing cubicle, fresh water shower and toilets. The taverna itself is immaculately kept and has an excellent choice of traditional Greek food. A warm welcome from all the staff makes this an ideal location.

We stumbled across this place after we left a day at Baja Beach.
What a treat it was. Right on the beach, it’s perfect for families with children who want to play in the sand.
The food is absolutely amazing. Everything was so fresh and tasty.

We came very often during our holidays in Crete (near the center of Rethymnon by car).
Restaurant very very good and at very sweet Awards.
Very welcome Anna, Manole, room staff and kitchen.
Very well appointed (toilets, showers), very clean.
Not too many deckchairs so very quiet.
Parking with always room.
I highly recommend.

Great place to go to. We visited Crete several times, and this is where we like to return. The food is fresh, and made with love. Anna, the host, lifts up your day. And the beach facilities are great as well.

Wonderful location spot on the beach. We lounged in the chairs that they had to rent on the beach and then had a wonderful lunch, before returning for more sun bathing!

Even better than we remembered. The fish is as fresh as it gets and other dishes are also delicious and freshly prepared. Great value and comfortable, clean surroundings. I hope we get to visit again one day.

As mature people getting married 2nd time around, we wanted a wedding with a difference. To have a very casual ceremony on a beach in Crete with friends followed by dinner in a taverna. Liz our Wedding Planner suggested the River Taverna as we could have the ceremony on the beach. We wern't disappointed. Liz and the River Taverna organised the perfect evening. Liz did the planning and the Taverna provided the most wonderful food. We had giant beans, prawn and mussel saganiki, courgette balls, with breads and dips to start with followed by grilled lamb and chicken, potatoes and greek salad.Later in the evening the restaurant served greek pies with honey followed by gyros at midnight. The staff at the taverna were amazing, The service was fantastic - waiting staff were attentive and polite and most of all entertained us with greek dancing, plate smashing and setting fire to the floor. We can't recommend the taverna highly enough.
