Our experience here was top notch - food, service and ambiance. Nice setting by the pool. Our appetizers, main course and desserts were all excellent. We will be sure to return here for our next Orient Bay visit next year.
Had dinner at 8pm Feb. 14,2023. It was also our 26th wedding anniversary. The dinner was lovely. The Bartender was extraordinary, great drinks of varying types. Food was well presented and exceptional.
Upon arrival with our friends the ambiance was that of a quiet elegance. We were looking forward to a pleasant evening with our friends we met during our stay at the Grand Case Beach Club. The singer was very good with her rendition of Madonna...Melodie’s and those of mr. Buble. The dining experience was mediocre after a muse Bouche of gravlax and wonderful conversation at our table. Servings are quite small and the flavours were the worst we experienced throughout all our dining experiences throughout the 4 months of our stay. My husbands chicken was grisly and dry, my scallops chewy and fishy. Our friends were looking forward to their surf and turf were less than pleased . The finale was quite shocking.. as we waited an extremely long time for the bill .. paid the fir our meal and on our way out. Thomas the owner of the establishment asked if everything was okay to which the reply was no .. the service was slow and horrible and the food was not particularly tasty. To which Thomas the owner started flailing his arms at my husband telling us to get out and calling my husband a piece of shxx!! Wtf ?? Thomas the owner as we learned later in other Sxm circles is a hot head in other areas of his conduct as well .. the display of unprofessionalosm and plain rudeness was shocking and lit like crazy fire !! Fou feu !!More
Anybody that looks through my previous reviews will soon see that I do not hand out excellent ratings graciously. I am doing so in spite of the breakfast, which we were a bit disappointed in. So forget breakfast, go for dinner. We did so twice....The first time I had the wild shrimp and pasta with foie gras as an appetizer and crepe suzette for dessert. A finer dining experience I do not think I have ever had. If I recall correctly I had the lamb the second time with escargot for appetizers and, again, crepe suzette for dessert. Service was top notch and the atmosphere was something we, in Canada, would never experience. Astrolabe really made our week in Orient Bay special and we cannot wait to return.More
The surf and turf wasn’t fabulous. Both the lobster and tenderloin were tough. Wished we ordered something else. Other menu items looked better. Heard from other people that the regular menu is great. I make both lobster and beef tenderloin at home in the states...and I think that the quality of both ingredients is so far superior that it might not be their fault that everything was so tough.More
Showed up for our dinner reservation which was made two weeks prior. Thomas - Manager/owner forgot to write it down and told us sorry no space. Didn’t even try to accommodate us. Made a small apology but totally ruined our last night on the island....Not impressed at allMore
Had an excellent meal here in Nov 2022. Service was exceptional. Cocktails were strong and tasty. Lots of good choices for dinner. Had the smoked-beef with Comte and a Caesar salad to start - both delicious. Octopus and Salmon for mains which were also great....Highly recommend - we went on a Sunday night and it made for a relaxing evening.More
Continental bfast included in room rate at Esmeralda. But be ready for stale croissant and highly limited options.
The live music at the Friday night Lobster Party would have been very nice if the volume had been significantly reduced. Since it was so loud, diners were shouting across their tables to be heard, which, of course, increased the noise level. The waiters were...all constantly dashing around, thereby creating an unrelaxed atmosphere. Overall, the four of us at my table found the atmosphere terrible. The menu and the waiter going over the menu with us emphasized how much you could get for $59. Yes, you can get Foie Gras, Lobster and dessert for $59. But the quality is average.More
I have dined at Astrolabe on every trip to St. Martin, and they never disappoint. The meals are delicious and the service is excellent. After dinner select one of the sorbets with alcohol. The citron sorbet with Grey Goose was off the charts!
We absolutely loved this restaurant. The lobster party and the surf and turf night are not to be missed. The food is world class. Friendly and relaxing atmosphere. The staff are very accommodating and I highly recommend it
This restaurant came recommended from our hotel staff. The service was great and the food was amazing. We were served a tuna hors d'oeuvre as well as Nutella rum on the house. I am not a big fan of fish, but it was delicious. My...husband and I ordered scallop risotto and the rack of lamb as well as creme brûlée for dessert. Everything was perfect. We both highly recommend this place.More
Service, ambiance and food all outstanding. The lobster Bisque with cognac and Fois Gras and mushroom ravioli with hazelnut cream was without the most wonderful thing I have ever tasted.
Went the Good Morning Cafe for breakfast and asked one of the gentlemen workers where we should eat dinner that night. He suggested this restaurant and even made the reservation for me! There were four of us. None of us can say anything bad about...our experience. Wait staff waa superb, funny, knew there stuff. Food was perfection. HIGHLY recommend going here!More
