Lovely interior with a wood burning stove and a varied and interesting menu. Lots of vegetarian options - I had the cheese souffle and the mushroom in filo pastry with tarragon sauce - really excellent. Good service too.

In fairness to this place, despite it's somewhat unappealing exterior, it is internally a very clean and airy place which has been well modernised. On the downside, service is not good. Waited a long while to be served a drink at the bar and staff served whoever was nearest to them as opposed to in order of wait. My wife... More

We were in cold Northumberland for Vindolanda and naturally had to stop for a pint at the Inn. The pint turned into lunch, and it was excellent. The place has changed a bit since we stayed overnight during a Hadrian's Wall hike in 2014, but it hasn't lost its quirky charm and warmth.

Stayed here for the 'star gazing' evening, which was very good with a well planned format and an excellent, informative presenter in Richard Darn, who had brought two telescopes and a range of binoculars to take full advantage of the low level of light pollution in this rural area and greater visibility of the stars. The bar serves superior pub... More

A rather bland, we could be anywhere place. Turkey sandwich was good but it very noisy as refurbishment was taking place upstairs. Pleased to find something to eat but the rest of the experience was very forgettable.

We were surprised to find this innovative dining in the middle of the English countryside. We had enjoyed several pub meals in the days before and it was nice to get some fresh veggies and sophisticated flavors for a change of pace.

A group of 8 rang for a table, we were told the main room was full as there was a function. A full car park confirmed this. We were told we would have to wait & the food did take a while to arrive. It was delicious when it came & Sean deducted the price of the starters & my... More

Friendly reception but disappointed with meal. Drinks ordered, waited for meal.... bit of a wait, short staffed, steak OK, Lamb thin & fatty, gravy thick. BUT when we looked at bill, Sav Blank was charged @ unbelievable £7.15 a glass! And we had 2 of them! My Cab Sav a more respectable £4.65. The Sav blanc was chosen from a... More
