We got totally different dishes than we ordered. More expensive ones offcourse, there were also things on the bill we didn't even get. We had only one terrible meal in our whole 3-week roundtrip and this was it. Do not go here...

We saught this restaurant out because of it's review in Lonely Planet guide...what a mistake!! The recommendation/attraction was the 'boar stew'... We should have realised something was 'wrong' when this restaurant was deserted & the one across the road was packed.. When we sat down, all the tables were 'pre-laid' with the dinner plates upside down..we turned ours over to... More

This has been my third time at Esquina. When I decide to go south to Algarve I tend to choose this route which normally includes a couple of stops: Serpa, São Domingos and Mértola. The scenery is marvelous and it normally includes a stop at Esquina for lunch. The starters include regional bread and olives. Then we always have the... More

I went there with my wife. We received only one menu but it doesn't matter since half of it is in Portuguese only. I ordered boar stew with rice and fried potatoes that showed up after maybe 5 minutes (guess if it was fresh made) and my wife had Bacalhau that came after 30 minutes still frozen inside. Waiter proposed... More

I had lunch here with my family, and I found this place overpriced for the quality of the food, the quantity is good but it lacks taste. Besides that the staff isn't very polite.

Not the best we had but conveniently located near the big free carpark near the entrance of the village. Not expensive but not good value for money either, consider we were forced to pay about 10 euro for the starter dishes that came as standard if you eat in the restaurant. Food were ok, pork ribs did not taste particularly... More

Food was not so tasty and service was terrible. Too expensive for what we get. Food didn't come at the same time and we end up waiting for each other to start to eat. Avoid at all cost. The location is great and it is probably what keeps them having customers.

We chose this restaurant because of the bright lights and the fact that it was open earlier than other local restaurants. The server was not very friendly and we had difficulty communicating because he did not speak English or French. My husband did not enjoy eating chotos/cuttlefish especially when cutting into the ink sac. I found the chicken to be... More

We spent a night at mentola for new years eve and it was the only place we could get some food without reservation. We ordered lamb stew and grilled sea bass. Both dishes were good. Service was ok, Young waiter, not professional but did the best he could.

Rudest waiter ever, kept dropping dishes on our table we didn't want, when we tried to tell him he waved us off saying "don't have time to talk to you...". Go to the restaurant on the other side of the street, very friendly and smiling people!
