All sushi places I have visited in Japan do accept late arrivals even after 11pm. We arrived in Maguro Bito before 9.30 and got rejected, although the restaurant was still half full. Even in Europe you get served at that time. In conclusion, I can't judge on the food, but as far as I am concerned, service is crap, which... More

The food was very good, staff friendly and English speaking. A bit More expensive than other places, but we didn't Mind due to The good reviews. The only issues I had were that because everyone was asking the chefs for a specific dish, there wasn't a lot of unreserved plates going around, so it was Just ordering and waiting for... More

The banter amongst the servers and chefs is entertaining even if you don't understand a word! Great quality sushi and prompt service in this bright and busy restaurant. In and out in 40 mins with full bellies all round. Good value.

We bumped into this restaurant while looking for another. Suprisingly nice and delicious. Loving the food and ambience there. The food was very fresh. You can straight away order from the chef. And the chef was very nice that he helped us to order some specialties which were not in the menu. He made us a mini sushi for fun... More

We bumped into this place after walking around the temple area - and there were a lot of people waiting. We were impressed by the quality of the salmon; they were the best! Most of the dishes on the conveyor belt were a bit old, but you could always ask the chef to make something specific for you. They provide... More

Our kind guide recommended this kaitenzushi restaurant. It's located within Asakusa area. We saw a queue at the entrance but because our guide had booked earlier on, we were allocated a table upstairs. Staff was very friendly here (though we couldn't understand their language). Food tasted perfect and the price was affordable. Highly recommended.

The staff was very friendly. They insisted that they prepare fresh plates instead of taking plates from the conveyor. And they had a wonderful sense of humor. Dinner was so good we came a second time before we left Asakusa! On our second visit they prepared a complimentary variety plate of items we likely would not have tried on our... More

First off, there are two Maguro Bito restaurants in Asakusa - one south of the Kaminarimon gate that is a stand-up sushi place, and THIS ONE northwest of the Kaminarimon that is a sit-down conveyor belt kaiten sushi place. We visited this Magurobito with our family (2 adults, 3 children). They gave us English-language menus and seated us in a... More

Sit down, start eating! It is that simple. Plus, as "conveyor belt" type goes, Magurobito is a nice one. Not the cheapest, but the place is clean, bright, airy, there is enough space to move your elbow (other sushi place can be too narrow, but not MB...) so it is worth paying a little bit more. But really, it is... More

Great food and the sushi chefs were very friendly. Sometimes, the sushi "trains" present the challenge of the sushi not being fresh, but everything was prepared to order and simply delivered to us by the conveyor belt with a few fun and games along the way between the chefs and the children :)

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighborhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
