This was an interesting visit, and the owner is obviously incredibly knowledgeable about whiskey (obviously). He made some good recommendations for me, as someone who doesn’t really drink a lot of whiskey, to a point where I made sure to later pick up a bottle...More

The first time we tried to visit this little bar, we couldn't get in because there weren't enough seats. The place can fit maybe 25 people in it, tops! When we tried again on a Thursday night, we were able to get in. The owner...More

Our first stop on our first night out in Tokyo was this whiskey bar. As our friends warned, finding places in Tokyo is a challenge, as street names (when they exist) are in Japanese, street numbers are useless (they’re numbered by when they were built,...More

Small and atmospheric, Zoetrope delivers a world class whisky tasting experience unlike any other. The one friendly bartender is more than happy to spend time talking about whisky, movies and music. Don't miss the Nikka tasting sets that showcase whisky rarely seen outside of Japan....More

If you are looking to try some unique Japanese whiskeys, this place is not-to-be-missed. Because of a recent surge in popularity, most Japanese whiskeys are extremely rare and difficult to get your hands on. The owner of Zoetrope has them all, and is very willing...More

Shot Bar Zoetrope combines its owner's two great passions: Japanese whisky and the movies. The bar has been described as being the "best place to drink Japanese whisky in the world" and it has an excellent collection of whiskies from all of the Japanese distilleries. As an independent bar, with no affiliation to any particular distilling company, we are able to offer customers an excellent insight into a whisky making tradition that is currently taking the whisky world by storm. We also have good collections of Japanese rum, brandy, grappa, beer and other alcohols distilled or brewed in Japan. (Customers looking for more traditional Japanese liquors should be aware that there is no sake or shochu available.)Zoetrope also celebrates its owner's interest in the world of cinema. Its interior was designed by Takeo Kimura, one of the best known movie art directors in Japan, and the bar is decorated with a variety of interesting film memorabilia. Zoetrope's background music comes from the soundtracks of movies from across the world and a large screen plays a continuous selection of comedy films from the silent era.If you are whisky fan or a movie lover, you are sure to enjoy Shot Bar Zoetrope.
